Why can't a song mean what you interpret it to mean?
I mean, if it speaks to you about a connection to God (as it does to me), or a lost love, or another man -- what is wrong with your interpretation? Why does your interpretation have to be the artist's interpretation? ...then again, maybe I'm listening to too much Tori Amos (who is incredibly obtuse and usually doesn't volunteer her interpretation, allowing it to mean whatever the listener wants/needs it to be). |
