DVD-Audio Set-up Help Needed
Hi folks,
I just got a new Pioneer DVD-646A DVD-A player. My amplifier is a Sony 32-bit DA-555ES Surround Amp (Dolby Digital/DTS). I can't get the amplifier to recognize surround mode when the deck is playing a DVD-Audio disc. I've got the player set correctly, and I always choose the 5.1 DVD-A mix from the disc. Can someone help me figure out what to do? Thanks |
sadly, I cannot help you, but you might want to post this in the home theater forum, cause some of the audiophiles may not read this board often enough.
good luck. |
Do you have a 6 channel (analog) connection between your player and receiver?
And are you choosing the 6 channel input on the receiver? If not, you should be -- assuming your receiver has the appropriate inputs. This is the only way to get DVD-A from a DVD-A player. |
6 Channel Analog?
Hi -- Thanks for the reply. I'm confused though. Why do I use the
six channel input when it's already hooked up through the digital out? |
You need the analog connections because that's the only way dvd-a can be recognized.
You should take a look at http://www.dvdaudiopreview.com/about/index.html and http://www.dvdangle.com/dvd_audio/up...g_to_dvda.html Regards, RaS |

A new firewire standard has been approved for DVD-A connection, but of course this will mean new players and new receivers which handle that connection. Until then 6 analog connections is as good as it is going to get. J |
