Linkin Park

I don't know anything about them, but I bought their CD. Can't remember the CD title, but one of the songs is "In the End", or something like that. Is it any good?

You may be wondering why I would buy the album if I am unfamiliar with Linkin Park. It was an elderly Chinese fellow selling them on the street and I felt guilty that he took all of the CDs out of his suitcase to show me, so I felt a bit obligated to buy something. Most of his other stuff was R&B crap, so I bought Linkin Park. It was only $5.

You just wasted $5 IMO.

D'oh! :(

Yes that $5 would have been better spent on a spicy chicken combo at Wendy's. Linkin Paker is suckekeke!

Wormwood 12-26-01 02:34 PM

Don't listen to these guys. I have the cd and like it. I suggest that you listen for yourself and form your own opinion.

SnoopDogg 12-26-01 04:12 PM

I to like the cd very much, dont listen to the haters ;).

There are about 8 good songs on there I think.

Listen to Crawlings, In the End, Papercut, those are some of my favs.

I hate Linkin Park--- Angry pop boy band IMO. But I agree with Wormwood. Listen to it for yourself, someone has to like it. I mean if everyone had the same taste in Linkin Park as I and others on this board, then they wouldn't be so popular would they? Listen to their hits first... In The End, Crawling and another one I can't think of right now.

kilcher 12-27-01 02:31 AM

Just curious, if you have it why are you asking if you'll like it? Why don't you just listen to it?

That's too easy. :)

I would suggest taking the easy way. I love the album, one of my favorites. Of course, not everyone will feel that way. There's no person who has the exact same tastes as you, so the only way to find out if you like them is to listen.

db27 12-27-01 10:04 PM

i think that they successfully combine rap, anger, heavyness. I think that in todays world of music, they are lyrically quite good. Most folks don't give them a chance, and write them off. They also have a very talented DJ. I love the song called "points of authority"

with everything in the world, you like it or you don't some will and some won't.

Thunderball 12-28-01 01:14 AM

Personally, I really enjoy these guys.

Not the most amazing band ever, but good nonetheless

kilcher 12-28-01 02:30 AM

I think they're great too. If you like the songs you've heard on the radio then you should like the cd. Good stuff.

Charlie Goose 12-28-01 10:50 AM

Just to update, I listened to the entire album and really enjoyed it.

grunter 12-28-01 11:51 AM

Why solicit opinions on the sound of the album? Just turn on any cookie-cutter "alternative" station these days and wait 15 minutes. You're bound to hear one of these criminally over-played angst-anthems by then.

Axl Rose 01-14-02 01:06 AM

I think Hybrid Theory is one of the best debut albums that has come out in years. All 12 tracks are cool IMO.

Tuan Jim 01-14-02 09:44 PM

I find Linkin Park to be particularly refreshing because although they may have a little angst, I don't see the hate and the negativity that pervades so much other hardcore and rapcore artists. Plus, they (like their superiors P.O.D.) show that you can put out a great album with awesome tracks without the need to resort to mindless profanity and garbage -- ie. Hed PE (those guys make me ill), Limp Bizkit, etc., etc.

I also like the combo of rapping and singing, and they put on a really great live show.

My thoughts exactly. Bought this CD for "Crawling", "In the End" and "One Step Closer" but was blown away by the rest of the album. "Papercut", "With You" and "By Myself" are the other highlights, IMO.

Axl Rose 01-14-02 10:49 PM

I just bought the Linkin Park DVD which has all of their videos, some live footage, 2 songs not released on the album and a really funny version of Crawling by a country band (can't remember the name). I like the DVD and the 2 unreleased songs are both very good. I think if you join their fanclub off their website for like $25, they send you a special edition of Hybrid Theory with these 2 songs and a t-shirt among other stuff.

MFRONE 01-14-02 10:53 PM

I totally discredited them after hearing One Step Closer, but gave the CD a listen and its one of the best CDs I've heard in a while.

Da Thrilla 01-14-02 11:24 PM

Linkin Park is not sukekekekeke IMO. [Hybrid Theory] is one of my favorite CD's. I think they're great.
