Tegan and Sara - two young girls from canada who write some amazing stuff. They seem like they have a good time. Their concerts are lot of fun.

Sleeping at Last - I think they'll make it decently before long. Probably not big..but people will hear about them.

Waterdeep - Still not big enough. Wonderful to see live and great cds. Sort of 70ish rock sound but very introspective lyrics. Good stuff.

- an electro/ebm/industrial dance band fronted by Tom Shear (who is actually the sole member)
- just released sophomore effort, "Failure"
- intelligent lyrics, danceable beat

Hungry Lucy

- a duo (Christa Belle and War-N) who specialize in haunting, synthbased music with a touch of gothic and trip hop
- debut album, "Apparitions" came out August of last year
- if you're a DM fan, check out their amazing cover of "Blue Dress"

I love "Peter Parker." They really rock. I don't think they have a label yet.

400 Blows

16 Horsepower

these guys are a little more popular and i know some people on this board already know about them, but i try to get their music recognized whenever i can. one of my all time fav's.

Milwaukee's own Nerve Twins... they're so rare even I can't find their Seven Days single. :(

Codefree: Does that mean that you're also from Milwaukee? I've never seen the Nerve Twins.

I'd just like to add Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to the list. I've really enjoyed their debut album, and their concert was one of the most energetic I've seen in a while.

Also add:
PINEHURST KIDS - fantastic adreline fuled album with killer tunes

THE HIVES - Swedish garage rock - aggressive as hell

MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY - Scotlands latest fab band

IMPERIAL TEEN - for all still looking for a Pixies fix

THE WANNADIES - Another Swedish band, who like Imperial Teen are influenced by the Pixies in creating simple very melodic rock/pop. Blistering live, saw them twice at the Reading Music Festival mosh heaven, everyone losing it, crowd pogo-ing and sing a longs. American one song hit - "You and Me Song" featured on the "Romeo and Juliet" soundtrack.

FOR STARS

SOUTH - quasi sounding Stone Roses

DELTA CLUTCH - Providence local band, pop rock. Saw them open for Remy Zero/Coldplay was very impressed.

STARSAILOR - imagine a mixture of The Verve/London Suede, top notch album with not a single bad song. Simply cannot wait to see them live with The Charlatans.

dEUS - Belgium avant garde rock, "All Music" lists roots/influences as Big Star, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Velvet Underground, Bauhaus, Pixies, Sonic Youth. Highly recommeded.

BLACK BOX RECORDER - Luke ("Autuers) Haines latest band. Contempilative nihilistic brooding pop songs Saw them at Reading in 2000, where the three dressed up as Flight attendents and pilots.

My favorite "unknown" band is My Middle Finger.

They sound like a combination of Alice In Chains, Pantera, King's X, Tool, and Soundgarden. VERY cool stuff.

Check out their website if that sounds interesting....
