I must say. This is one great sounding band. If you get the chance, download some of there tracks...

Great for just sitting back and getting that ambiant noise. just very very deep.

They are also an excellent live band. I saw them in Cleveland recently and it was pretty amazing. If you like them you might want to check out Set Fire To Flames. Good stuff.

Let me be the naysayer here (somebody has to). I think their music is way too formulaic. In my opinion all you need is the Slow Riot EP. The pattern of crescendos and descrescendos seems to be on a grid, as each song follows it exactly.

True, but I also enjoy, not just the formulation, but the tape samples they bring into the mix. You are right, if you want something similiar to this that is NOT forumulaic, I would suggest Devil Doll.

Ok, A, you have lost me. Devil Doll and GYBE! are nothing like one another, nor is GYBE! formulaic in my opinion. Their songs may have similar structures to an extent, but the feel of each one is different to me and so it doesn't become uninteresting.

In interviews they cite jazz influences, and while I'm no musicologist I definitely hear them...they are more about texture than pure structure/melody.

I always hear GYBE cite punk as their biggest influence. And that last statement you made is why I would say that they are a little similiar to d.d. DD is about texture and creating a mood. Also, they both write some really erry ambient music.
