Lord of the Rings ST is beautiful!
I picked this up being totally unaware that it was released. I have listend to the whole thing and really think it is some of the most beautiful music I have heard for a film in a long time.
While it is dark at times with no real fanfare or epic sized crashes, it is fit for Fellowship of the Ring. With the excpetion of a few moments, the book is mostly soft and easy going.
At the risk of sounding corny, I also loke the Enya song at the end and how it segues into the Fellowship theme. Overall a very effective score.

Six covers? Bummer. So if I want a particular cover, I guess I shouldn't be ordering it from Amazon.
Anyone have a link to pictures of the covers so I can see if I'd mind just having one at random?

The 'digital trading cards' are examples of the different covers, with the dimensions of a CD case of course.

Bought LOTR soundtrack
Yes.. An actual CD.. from a store.. not downloaded.. Amazing.
Anyway - I like it so far. It doesnt have a real strong theme (al'a williams or zimmer), but its good.
Its reminds me a LOT of basil's conan the barbarian.
Anyone else have this?

LOTR soundtrack
I don't even know if it has been released yet but wouldn't it be great if P.Jack would include a few songs from Led Zepplin iv in there somewhere? Man that is a great album. I would love to hear stairway at the end credits =).

Are you kidding? I know "Stairway" is supposedly influenced by Tolkien but it'd still be totally inappropriate for the movie. And why would you need Led Zeppelin on a LOTR score anyway when you can buy the band's output separately?

ya, that would definately be out of place on the soundtrack. The whole album, and many other LZ songs were influenced by the Trilogy though. Misty Mountain Hop always reminds me of LotR for some reason hehe.

My copy arrived some weeks ago but I haven't played it yet. Then again, I have some CDs from over a year ago unplayed!

The mind boggles! I can understand a DVD which you actually have to sit down and watch but a CD? Can't you just have it playing in the background while you're making the bed or something? Another reason why the idea of putting STH in LOTR: FOTR is not only absurd but impossible as well is that Led Zeppelin doesn't want the song to be used in any movie, at least not for any reasonable price. If Cameron Crowe couldn't use it in a scene in Almost Famous that plays the entire song from beginning to end without any actors talking during it, no-one can.

ok, for lots of movies with scores to them, there are two scores. the one you buy and the one you hear in the movie.
anyone know a good place to get the one you hear in the movie?
to clarify, for the movie toys, the soundtrack has two tori amos tracks on it. while in the movie, i think "happy worker" is played more often than that. as such, the "movie score" would have this song three times. there's usually a lot more tracks and i'm guessing, as i've never heard one, they're actually more frequently partial songs.
do i make any sense?
