Most painful album to listen to - Cat Power
Is it me or does this female singer sound like she needs singing lessons. Of the several times someone puts this cd on at the store where I work, it just makes me cringe. And then I have to apologize to the customers who look in utter bewilderment and disgust and say something to the effect of "I am sorry you have to listen to this but I didnt have any part in deciding to play this cd for your listening enjoyment". This cat is declawed, denudered and depressing - uck - overrated and simply the most painful albums to listen to.
Other artists - bands that make you want to shoot your radio/cd player/your head for just sounding awful??

Which album of hers are you refering to? I absolutely love Moon Pix. The sparseness of the music and the repeated lyrics are perfect to get lost in on this album. I like her older stuff too but it doesn't quite compare to Moon Pix. I also know people who rave about her Covers Record but I haven't gotten into that one as much- but its last track, a cover of the Honeydripper's "Sea of Love" is worth the price of the CD alone.
