Please explain what "H to the Izzo" means to someone who is rap-impaired?

I don't know - is it Jay-Z or DMX or another of those interchangeable "hard rappas?" - but I don't understand the lyrics to that "H to the Izzo - that's the anthem so get your damn hands up" concoction.

What the hell are they talking about? What the hell are they saying?

Anyone?

I'm a big fan of rap music, but that song is getting sickening.

My little understanding of it is this:

H to the iz O , V to the iz A

HOVA is his nickname or something, I'm not sure.

He says it in a few of his songs, anyone know its meaning?

Oh yeah, HOVA means "god" I think, because I heard he called himself the "god" of rap music.

As in J-Hova / J'hovah?

Jepthah 10-15-01 06:09 PM

Jay-Z is a better than average MC but I really wish he (and others) would refrain from doing the 'playa' stuff.

Bragaddocio-rap is so 1988, and they did it better back then.

yes, when he says Hova, he is referring to himself....short for Jahovah.......or however you spell it.

IMO Method Man is the best MC out there now, maybe ever. Redman is also good. They can rap circles around Jay Z, Ja-Rule, Nelly and the other bling, bling rappers.

And Nelly's I'm #1 has to be the worst song ever, Biatch you ain't even in the top ten.

You should download H to the OMO. I think it's by either Nas or 50 cent. They each have songs that diss Jay-Z. His first two albums were good, the last 3 have sucked.

That is the correct answer. Taken from an ol' school disco song called Double Dutch Bus.

FYI his new album is not "bling bling" at all it's very soulful IMO
