Paul Walter Hauser

He can do comedy, drama, and he has another job as a pro wrestler.

Is he getting overexposed or one of the true talents that is not getting his proper due and a future Oscar on the horizon?

If he can just handle Jamie Taco the kid might do alright for himself

He's supposed to be making a biopic of Chris Farley if that is still happening.

Josh Gad will direct but have not heard any updates since 2024 or waiting until his schedule is open to start filming.

he was great and got an Emmy from that mini-streaming series with Taron Edgerton. He played a serial killer (Blackbird? maybe). i thought he was amazing and love that he is in so much more now.

I loved Paul Walter Hauser in the show Kingdom, the show was underrated and he was underrated in the show, since he was just a weird friend of one of the main characters. He was also great as Richard Jewell one of the many examples of Clint Eastwood getting great performances out of his actors.

I think an interesting thread would be "what living non-Asian stars has Ash heard of?"

I was going to reply to him saying "if his name was Paul Walter Yoshimoto, you would have heard of him"

He’s one that caught my eye instantly. Like who is this guy.

I remember thinking the same about Jeremy Renner. I caught that Law and Order episode around 2005. And I immediately felt like he was going to be in more.

If Hollywood ever learns, they should be casting people who feel like the audiences friends and family. Not everyone should look like they’ve been working with a trainer for a year. We got rid of the CGI uncanny valley and replaced it with casting uncanny valley.

He seens like a cool normal guy in interviews too

He was fantastic in Jewel and in this too a movie that nobody saw or discussed.

Wasn’t he Mole Man in the Fantastic Four movie?!

I’ve seen him wrestle in MLW on YouTube. That was quite a sight… he’s fearless.

He's still only 39, not even mid-way through his working years, but it's admirable he's been able to carve out a nice career so far, while needing none of what so many of his peers depend on - age, physique, looks. He'll work as long as he wants to - nice position to be in.

The 70's and earlier decades had a lot of those guys with unconventional looks and not shocking most of all the great movies come from those eras though Renner does not fit that mold physically.

Checked this out and didnt feel like my time was waisted but I like Paul Walter Hauser an awful lot; The Jamie Taco sketch may be my favorite sketch/skit ever. It's in contention.

Luckiest Man on Earth has him play a very strangely dethatched man. Rewatched some documentaries on the actual incident and it's weird because although the actual guy is definitely a grifter he seems like a guy you could easily share an afternoon with. Walter Hauser plays him as if he's almost an alien. He isn't bad but it's a very unusual choice that doesn't lead to any payoff portraying him more closer to the actual person wouldn't have.

It also has the excellent Patti Harrison for anyone else who is really into I Think You Should Leave. If you like them both it's worth 90 minutes. Otherwise I would suggest just watching a youtube video about the actual incident. Thanks for the recommendation regardless. Had no idea it existed.

Saw this at TIFF a couple of years ago. It was kind of an afterthought mainly because I was aware of the scandal and had already seen the documentaries via YouTube. Never posted about it here because while it was enjoyable, I had a feeling it wasn’t going to make much of an impact, which it didn’t. I do agree that Hauser’s performance is unnecessarily unfaithful to the original guy. The long-form doc on YouTube (which originally aired on the Game Show Network) is really all you need.

I find Hauser excels in supporting ‘weirdo’ roles that elevate already moderately clever movies, like in QUEENPINS and I TONYA:
