Bravo to Paramount for the marketing crossover

So does this mean Maverick and Ice Man were in the MCU this whole time?

I quite enjoyed it. Especially Pugh, Harbour and Russell. All three were great fun. I was having a good time right through the fight with Sentry which was exceptionally cool. Then I thought the climax, in Bob's head, I guess, was a letdown and rather boring. But otherwise I had a lot of fun -- much more so than in Captain America BNW
Crazy as it sounds, Yelena might be my favorite MCU character. She's so interesting. I never know what she's thinking or her motivation. It's nice to see her get the lead here.

Saw it in IMAX. Loved it. Best MCU movie since Guardians 3.

When she went into that speech with Red Guardian on the streets after they got their asses handled to them. It almost made me forget that she was a mass murder, killer spy. LOL

  • The origin of the name Thunderbolts*
  • What the asterisk means in Thunderbolts*
  • Movie was genuinely funny
  • Less reliance on CGI
  • Real set pieces, real props, real stunts
  • Red Guardian was great
  • cap Cap was still an ass which completely fit with this movie. I'm glad he didn't "redeem" himself.
  • I really hated Valentina before. But she works much better here as a straight up villain.
  • Florence Pugh did a great job and really carried this movie.
  • I was a little surprised at Bucky's diminished role but he was still great in the movie.
  • Bob was great as well.
  • The best end credits scene in an MCU movie in a very long time
  • I thought Sam trademarking the Avengers was hilarious and Red Guardians response: the AvengerZ
I'm really looking forward to more from this team. I hope they'll still be able to be around after Doomsday.

Pretty much my sentiment. It actually reminded me a lot of Buckaroo Banzai in terms of the group of misfits aspect. Only real head scratcher to me was why they had Taskmaster in it only to kill her. My guess is to bring in Taskmaster proper as she wasn't the real one.

Taskmaster was grossly misused in the MCU. I like the way the character was treated in the Insomnia Spider-Man games.

Taskmaster was one of my favorite villians right up there with Bullseye. Its my only real beef with MCU they really drop the ball with that character.

I thought this movie was great. Also, that is how you do an end credit scene! It was an actual scene not just a quick 30 second-1 minute add-on that was barely worth sitting through the end credits.

Word of mouth should be pretty good for this film.

The Russo Brothers actually directed the post credits scene that teased the Fantastic Four.

Yeah, one of the funnier lines is when he says Bob turned his shield into a taco, got a few out loud laughs in my theater.

Forgot to mention there was some clapping at the end and after the post credits scene.

Missed opportunity to call back to

Echoing many of the sentiments already stated; I loved it.

I appreciated the use of mental health and depression as the driving force, finally giving a Marvel movie more voice than just blue lasers into the sky crap and ten years of teases of "we are finally going to do this multiverse thing!"

Not sure how this is doing at the box office, but I hope better than my showing indicated. Saturday night 7PM "premium format" (I'm out of town, so Big D, 3D) and there were maybe two dozen people. Ouch. Maybe the premium price kept people away? ($17.50)

Was shocked that Taskmaster went so quick. That sucks, as I felt Taskmaster and Ghost were two of the coolest designs for characters that got seriously shafted.

Was hoping Valentina Delicatessa Windowshade Mackrelmint Ephraimsdaughter Longstocking or whatever her name is would die. Julia Louis Dreyfus is hot AF as the character, but it is the single lamest, ill-fitting, and most pointless character in the MCU. Please stop bringing her back.

It feels as if MCU pieces are finally getting back to actually intentionally fitting together, rather than just being throw-away references, but I guess we have quite a bit of time before we can make that call (Thunderbolts* to Fantastic 4 to Doomsday).

I have a MAJOR gripe about my experience. It wasn't the movie though, so I will drop it in the theater experience thread.

https://deadline.com/2025/05/box-off...rs-1236383739/

It's tracking for around $73 to $77M

It had an A- cinemascore, which is a good indicator of it's potential longevity. Right now it's got really good WOM.

I thought it was good, but not great. Definitely better than most of the recent MCU stuff. Pugh is stellar. I will never tire of Harbour as Red Guardian. Love him.

The wife and kids and I saw it yesterday and we all really enjoyed it. Pugh and Harbour were fantastic as usual. The themes of mental health issues, childhood trauma and depression were unexpected, especially for a Marvel movie, but very impactful and powerful. It especially really resonated with my teenage daughter, who has been dealing with depression over the past year (thankfully doing much better now), she thought the film was great, and she's been hating most of the Marvel films after Endgame.

Yeah, didn't he make a comment that he was hoping Sentry would fix it for him?

We went to a 4pm showing yesterday, and same thing, the theater had maybe two dozen people in attendance. But it was an UltraAVX showing (nearly $20 CDN per ticket!), maybe the non-premium showing was fuller, or later showings were.

And damn, this was the most important post credits sequence in quite some time, as soon as I saw the shape of that space ship, I was like "Yes!"

I don't know what city is this, but isn't this a little premature to reveal this on a billboard? Like a spoiler? You just can't assume everyone sees big movies week 1.

Edit: Apparently it's a billboard in Los Angeles.

Analysts are already downplaying this movie's opening weekend numbers. It will undoubtedly have legs, and I see it becoming a decent sized hit. It's not doing the numbers of the big name MCU properties, but that's because this doesn't have any big MCU names in it, which is precisely the point of the movie. I guess it's just now hip to bash all Disney releases , even the ones critics and audiences enjoy.

The only people who hate comic book movies more than non-comic book movie fans are comic book movie fans.

See also Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.

I really liked it. Not much to add other than really digging the marvel studios logo going back (at least for this one) to just comic book images.

Absolutely (to both). It was the characters that carried this movie, as it should be. There was actually character development going on here, how novel! I was really happy with how this turned out. Could it have been better? Sure, but it was better than most post Endgame Marvel movies, so this one really worked for me.

I keep thinking about how this worked for me so much in how REAL it was. Like real locations and actual well done sets. I knew this was going to be the most grounded movie coming from marvel so I'm just hoping that what's to come next has to knock it out with the acting and script. FF, Spider man, and Doomsday; those are just gonna be green/blue screen bonanzas.
