There's also talk of Paramount+ and HBOMax merging as a single streaming service.

David Ellison sure has come a long way from his supporting role in Flyboys.

There's rumors out there that Skydance will sell off CBS. That's why Shari Redstone balked the first time. She wanted to sell to someone that will keep the company together. Supposedly Zaslav at Warner Discovery wants a broadcast network and he covets CBS so he can have full control of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and also have the rights to NFL games and The Masters. CNN and CBS News will mostly like merge if CBS is sold off.

Looks like Redstone officially signed off on the deal, so it should be made official to the media on Monday.

Ellison is the new Chairman and CEO of Paramount.

It's probably going to take a few years before Paramount gets back to being a healthy studio financially.

Yeah, there's still 6 - 12 months before its official but it looks like Ellison bought himself a media empire.

Super unlikely this deal is blocked.

Only thing I really care about is what this means for the future of Star Trek.

Will any of the CBS/Paramount cable channels be sold to other companies? I know there have been online rumors of that happening.

Same here. I've slowly been picking up all the series on iTunes when they are on sale.

Here's an article about that:

It sounds like CBS will probably remain an integral part of "New Paramount". The fate of the cable networks (Comedy Central, Paramount Channel, BET, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Showtime) is less clear.

Re: Paramount Globalís future ó News, Rumors

Cable is a dying business so those channels aren't that attractive to suitors.
