So Sebastian Stan went from playing a guy with a giant dick to a giant dick?

You're right. Maybe Jason Mantzoukas should have been cast as Trump instead.

Re: The Apprentice - Donald Trump Biopic S : Sebastian Stan, J. Strong, M. Bakalova

My takeaway is that even if this was an absolutely lie-filled, smear job, hit piece, because of its timing itís ultimately one more thing (among many) that will keep him and the ceaseless discourse about him front and center. Whether he loathes it or praises it to the heavens, itís one more handy tool to keep attention focused on him, to keep people talking about him, to keep him talking relentlessly about himself. Itís all so endless, and tiresome, and nauseating at this point. Whether this movie is a smash hit or a big flop or anything in between, its very existence is ultimately just more fuel for Trumpís constant-awareness machine. Whether itís about Trump then or Trump now, he benefits. If it makes more people love him, or hate him, he benefits. Whatís that old line about ďthe only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked aboutĒ, which he literally could not stand! Thatís why I wish theyíd save this stuff until heís out of the public eye for good, which will probably only happen when heís dead. Of course, even then his stink will linger for a few decades.

Ok. That's a movie I'd watch.

Hell, plenty of actors ARE unlikeable and detestable real life people. And people here love them.

I thought Oliver Stone would be pissed he was not the first guy to do a Trump movie?

He's so far down the rabbit hole now with conspiracy theories and pro-Russia propaganda, he'd probably make a pro-Trump movie if he got the chance.

This movie is a net-negative for life on earth.

I don't know about that. Don't you think it's a good thing that The Social Network got made? Even leaving out the undeniable quality of that film, it's a movie that told the world to look out for Mark Zuckerberg, that he shouldn't be trusted. And that was way back in 2010. Sure most people know how dangerous Trump is (and half still don't care, apparently), but a movie that shows what a fraud his business empire always was could only be a positive thing to put out into the world.

And yet we're still stuck with him in the news cycle on a regular basis. Much like my comment earlier about this Trump movie, whether it was good, bad or in-between, and whether he loved it or loathed it personally, Mark Zuckerberg benefitted from its existence, and that's irritating. We can certainly look out for these people, but we're powerless to do anything about them. And not using their services, or not voting for them, or whatever, doesn't make any difference.

True enough, but really it will be just the latest work to show what a fraud his business empire has always been. There have been so many other pieces now — most of it legitimate, thoroughly-researched reporting in books, magazines, documentaries, and TV news dating back to the 1970's — that this movie can't possibly show us anything we don't already know, or shouldn't already know, or haven't already learned from all of that other coverage that he's likewise utilized to 'lash out' against because it gets him even more face-time in the media. Again, he will benefit from this film no matter what it says about him, or his business acumen, or America in general (which will undoubtedly be the subtext). And because he's still alive, and seemingly a danger, so to speak, his sheeple will also benefit from this film as it's one big handy tool they can inevitably use to support his/their persecution complex.

I'm surprised a Musk movie isn't in the works. Or is it?

It is. Darren Aronofsky is making it.

Iím just not sure who the audience is for this. MAGA Trump supporters wonít watch it if it doesnít portray their lord and savior in a positive light. Non-MAGA folks donít want to see it because they go to movies to escape reality for a couple of hours. Trump haters wonít see it because they wonít want to reinforce his popularity by paying for something with his name on it.

Itíll flop and assuming itís not a glowing endorsement of him, Trump will tweet that its failure is proof that the Deep State canít take him down.

That is what I was going to say.

It would be the Megyn Kelly equivalent of movies where both sides have disdain.

Bombshell did okay, and Charlize got an Oscar nomination out of the role.

And the argument is silly anyway. W. did pretty well during his actual presidency. Political movies always have limited appeal, but I don't think a negative spinned one based on Trump's early life is doomed to failure.
