That would be the action movie equivalent of a video of a log burning in a fireplace. At a certain point it becomes nothing but background noise and visuals.

Ive been meaning to see this a second time, but making time for a 169 minute movie is hard. Also it lost all its premium screens two weeks ago. I think the running time and lack of premium screens has slowed down its box office.

The final stairway fight needed a trim. All you needed was him falling all the way down once. It became ridiculous when he kept falling, which killed the tension by making the sequence seem silly.

Re: John Wick: Chapter 4 (Stahelski, 2023) The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread
Saw it Saturday night and freaking loved it. Visually it was one of the most creative action movies I've ever seen. I had a smile on my face during so many scenes but the fight against the big dude in Germany was amazing.
There were problems for sure -- the superhero-esque kevlar suits and falling off things (onto his back) and getting right back up... but man, the ride was amazing. I can't see any compelling reason for John Wick to come back (if he's alive) and this is a perfect send-off as is. That said, I want more John Wick, dammit!
Edit -- oh, the top down view of him taking out the dudes with the incendiary shotgun shells was amazing. I could see a John Wick video game, with that view, having major potential.

It's now official. JW4 is now the highest grossing movie in the series. $349.7M and still counting.
I'm actually going to finally see it a 2nd time tomorrow during Regal's $6 discount Tuesday. I wanted to see it 1 more time before it leaves theaters and comes to disc sometime in the summer.

So I did see this a 2nd time today. I admit I was a little tired going in. Saw it around 3pm and I dozed off for probably 20-25 minutes. But, I was alert for the meat and potatoes of the movie until the end.
I have to add that seeing it a 2nd time, I absolutely the sequence that featured the ceiling shot of Wick fighting off all those assassins in Paris. That was some amazing camera work and editing. It also kind of reminded me of a video game sequence. Very cool.
Now that I've seen it again, I want to retract my original assessment on Wick's fate and think they did leave it ambiguous enough where it's very likely we could see him again. I've seen some interviews with Stahelski where he has come around to the idea of possibly doing another movie.

I finally saw this. I like the franchise, but my attention span for these is usually about an hour. Chapter 4 was no different except when we hit that hour mark and I started checking my watch, there was still an 1:45 left. Oof. It almost didn't even matter if the rest was good or bad. My eyes just glazed over and I barely registered any of it. It was definitely better than 3 though. I'll give it that.

Now past $400M worldwide. Highest grossing movie of the series. No way Lionsgate doesn’t green light a 5th movie. This is their star franchise.

I went to see this a few weeks ago and forgot to post here about it!
This was my first John Wick movie ever and I really liked it!
I don't know why I haven't seen the others. Just never got around to it. I'm sure they're good, just wasn't a high priority, even when they were free on PlutoTV for a while.
Good fights, good action. Great cinematography and the music really worked. Nice pace for a long movie, I didn't even check my watch. Definitely felt like three 1-hour "stages," though. I did get a little tired of everyone Draculaing to cover their face with their magic suit while shooting each other point blank range, that did get a little silly. Kind of funny how few lines Keanu Reeves actually has in this movie, and what a low percentage are even more than one word lines!
The staircase was awesome.
If this is what these movies are, I'm in for the rest.
I've decided to watch all four in reverse order, treating John Wick 4 as the John Wick story and the others as "prequel" origin stories. I think it will be a fun ride that way. For example, I have no idea which characters from 4 are in 1-3, though I have my guesses. Mayne Donny Yen, but definitely Lawrence Fishburn and Ian McShane, to some extent. The friend from Japan maybe, but maybe his daughter more. I don't know - I'll find out!
There it is my first review of - and my first viewing of - a John Wick movie!
I think I'll do this with Bad Boys, too, when 4 comes out. Heck, the only Lethal Weapon I've seen is 4. Maybe this is my new thing.

Add the Evil Dead movies to your list. Back when there were only three of them (now there are five and a TV series), fans used to watch them in reverse order.

I turned it off almost instantly. I've never seen the appeal of these excessively long loop videos.

Enjoyed Wick 1 and 2 a lot. Thought 3 was way too long. Didnt care about the extra characters.
turned off 4 after 80 mins. Doubt i will ever revisit anything other than the original

Watched the 4th chapter recently. I don't care for action movies, but the Wick series are very entertaining. However, this last one was just way too over the top. At the end of the Chapter 3, he was shot 3x & fell from the roof of The Continental which must be at least 200 feet high. There were countless scenes where he should've been dead. Each installment in the series is more unrealistic and absurd than the last, & this one was ridiculous.

On one hand, this had some amazing camera work and action sequences. Just all around fun to watch.
On the other hand, these movies have gotten way too full of themselves. They only thing these people do is kill each other and have elaborate ritualistic ceremonies.
The deeper this series gets into world-building the more I think, These are all just a bunch of weirdos.
I also love the set design, costumes, and atmosphere of this but I kept thinking they could replace all the characters with vampires and make it a sexy vampire movie, and nothing would have to be changed.
Probably my least favorite of the series because it felt like it got a bit too self-indulgent but its still enjoyable.

Anyone think John Wick 4 has a chance of being nominated for any Oscars? I'd love to see the movie get recognized in the technical categories( production design, cinematography, sound).

Chad Stahelski says in this article that he's working on an extended cut that's about 10-15 minutes longer.
"I've been working on the Director's Cut, the extended cut, which we've almost finished. There's about another, I think, 10 to 15 minutes we put back in," Stahelski shared with ComicBookMovie.com. "We cut out a big chunk of Berlin, a whole character called The Frau, which is a pretty funny scene with John, and another scene between him and Tracker, a few other little action beats that we put back in.

I have heard that Chad Stahelski has been working with The Academy to add a Best Stunts Category. Of course, as long as Tom Cruise is working, hell probably have that category wrapped up.
