A few complained on Twitter why wasn’t Albert Pyun included in the In Memoriam segment
Unless you’re a hardcore B movie nerd, most probably never heard of him.

You could very well be right (that Curtis' win was the Academy thumbing their nose at Marvel), but there's also no doubt that the Academy follows trends and patterns in their selections. Like there was a long pattern of them giving statues to actors who portray a well known person like Ray Charles, June Carter Cash, Truman Capote, or Freddie Mercury. Their acting performance is often little more than a 2-hour impersonation. It's why I wouldn't have been terribly surprised if Austin Butler had won last night.
Likewise, there's also the trend of a beloved actor that primarily makes crowd pleasing but shallow popcorn movies finally in a "serious" role. See Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon. They realize it might be the only time they can give that actor a statue so they do.
Lastly, there's also a tendency to make actors wait a little for their Oscar. Pay their dues, so to speak. It's the only reason I can think of that explains Saorise Ronan still not having an Oscar. "She's young, there's plenty of time". That may be why Curtis won as opposed to Stephanie Hsu, who had much more screen time and much more emotional requirements for her part in the same movie. But I'll also bet that Hsu never gets another nomination, although I'd love to be wrong about that.

I noticed that when Michelle Yeoh won the Oscar, James Hong and his daughter were the only ones in the whole theater who remained seated and didn't stand up and applaud. I'm sure that at his age, it takes a lot of effort (and pain) for Hong to get up after sitting for so long. His daughter probably didn't want him to be the only one sitting so she also remained seated.

It was probably discussed in the nominations thread, but I thought it was cool that two former "Bond girls" were up for Best Actress this year

Here's a full list of the Academy's In Memoriam names, although only a fraction of them were included in the segment on the show and at least half of those I hadn't even heard of:

It's weird that the lead actress in one of this year's BP nominated film dies suddenly and unexpectedly and doesn't make the In Memorium segment .

Nor could they include someone who was the Lead (Charlbi Dean Kriek) of one of the Best Picture nominees(Triangle Of Sadness) this year.
Not sure why they excluded so many people yet they cut back several times to the person performing the In Memoriam song.

Also, how could they miss the opportunity to have a clip from Goodfellas with Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino?

Much smaller role, but the woman who played Mama Thornton (original performer of "Hound Dog") in the Elvis movie also died recently.

Olivia Wilde's Oscar Party dress.
She looks like she's recovering from getting shit faced drunk over the weekend. She's had a bad year professionally.

It was a good show. Everyone, especially Kimmel did good. I liked that they didn’t really play winners off the stage. Most got their turns and rightfully so. The only thing I wish there were more of were montages. I don’t think I saw a one. I understand they want to keep show as tight as possible, but I thought the clips/montages are always well done. Nothing earth shattering. But, it was pleasantly agreeable. Happy about all the wins, especially Jaime Lee Curtis. Didn’t expect that one, but feel great for her. The rest of cast and crew too, but Jamie’s been around awhile and not too mainstream after True Lies. I think her comeback was Knives Out. Not really counting the Halloweens. Glad she got hers. And, I stayed up for the whole thing, so there’s that.

I was surprised NBC and CBS had new episodes with their primetime blocks and new Magnum PI, Blacklist, East NY, and Equalizer episodes.
That would have been unimaginable 10 years ago..
60 Minutes was a compilation of old segments dealing with dogs.
