And he has not recovered since...IMHO can't separate him anymore from it.

Slimy, smug, and polished vs. slimy, smug, and quirky. It's that latter third where Eisenberg's interpretation went to absolute shit.

Skyler Gisondo is pretty perfect casting as Jimmy Olson.

He’s been rumored since before the strike. I think he’s a great choice too.

I never expected to see Miss Teschmacher return. She seemed such a late 70s/early 80s character.

I'm guessing Teschmacher is more prominent for James Gunn, since he would have been 11-ish when the Donner film came out, compared to being 30-ish when the Animated Series came out and introduced the now-more-popular Mercy Graves.

He actually has some action/physicality to him too as his character is a stuntman on The Righteous Gemstones. Great choice.

The cast just did a table read. Devilshalo posted the link from Gunn’s IG.

Re: Superman: Legacy (2025, D: Gunn)

Is it possible to both trust Gunn and also be absolutely certain that there are way too many other superheroes in what is supposed to be a Superman movie?

The S symbol going around from the name place cards at the table read is the Kingdom Come version.

It's valid concern. But then again...people keep pointing to The Suicide Squad and the Guardians films as proof Gunn can handle "too many superheroes" in a film without issue. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Agreed. I guess my issue is that I want a Superman movie to be a Superman movie, not an ensemble movie. One of the reasons I enjoyed Man of Steel was because Superman seemed to be the only meta in that world.

So I supposed my concern is less that Gunn won't make a good movie and more than he won't make the movie that I want.

I want a Superman movie that acknowledges the existence of other heroes (and villains) within the same world. I don't think this is an ensemble, nor does it have to be with the introduction of other heroes.

I get it though, in that cast shot alone that's a LOT of other heroes that I assume are not just cameos or they'll be really bored at the table read(Mr. Terrific, Guy, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, The Engineer, etc.)

Yeah I think the formal "table read" is something that is fun to do, even if your part is small.

Some of the heroes are also main antagonists (such as The Engineer), as the story seems to be a kind of adaptation of "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?", which examines and reaffirms Superman's ethics and place in a modern world

Re: Superman: Legacy (2025, D: Gunn)

I am glad there are other super-powered people around in this. It's always so weird to have Superman off by himself when he should be running into Wonder Woman and Batman every five minutes.
