You should check it out. It's a really good show.

Heard of it but never watched it. Didn’t look at her filmography so I wouldn’t have recognized her.

Was just about to say 'still unsubstantiated' since Corenswet was supposed to keep quiet and didn't say anything to my nephew when he visited today, but I guess Gunn can be trusted ...

Great choices.

Ever since I saw Corenswet in Hollywood on Netflix I knew he’d be up for Supes one day.

I always confuse Brosnahan with Evan Rachel Wood. Aside from both having ‘Rachel’ in their names, they look alike. Frankly, I’m not convinced they’re two different people.

That's interesting. I never really thought about it because I'm used to blond stylish (or prairie-styled) Deloris vs 60's-coiffed brunette Midge.
Comparing them with similar hair and you know what? You're right!

Great, now let's pump out some Superman movies. He should be all over this new universe like Iron Man was in the MCU. No more shoulder down appearances.

Solid lead choices, especially the Lois Lane. It's only step one for a successful Superman movie. Costume choice up next. Wouldn't surprise me if Gunn goes with a slightly retro looking 'S', doubt we're getting the classic Curt Swan or Neal Adams costume. We've seen DC's own idea, the streamlined costume they gave Jon Kent. Then he needs to marry the action of Snyder's version with a different tone.

Re: Superman: Legacy (2025, D: Gunn)

Although I've never watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or watched her in anything that I'm aware of, I know who Rachel Brosnahan is. However, before this thread, I never heard of David Corenswet. That could work for me because I can think of the former as an unknown and the latter will literally be an unknown to me. So I can look at them as merely being Lois and Clark.

Part of me just wants WB to be sold to Universal and let another 3-4 yrs pass before the DC reboot, but I'm open about this...the actors certainly look the part. That David is 6'4" actually has me most interested - that is a nice frame to build upon over the next six months.

She also had a key minor role across multiple seasons on House of Cards and had a lead role in the WGN America show Manhattan.

He played one of the few honest cops they portrayed in We Own This City. He was a detective in one of the Baltimore suburban counties who got involved because of a tracer on a vehicle...or something like that. Honestly, Bernthal as Wayne Jenkins just kind of overwhelms any other memory I have of that show.

The last two Supermen got murdered by a 5-foot-tall cult member and an hipster bass player. Even Christopher Reeve was killed by Alfred the Butler back in the 80s.

Oh, I don't disagree I just think that an older Rosenbaum as a mature Lex would rock the role.

Honestly, I could do without Lex altogether.

Re: Superman: Legacy (2025, D: Gunn)

Although Lex tends to get overused, I like that he's a twisted version of the ideal self-made man, whereas Clark/Superman turns on its head the cliché assumption that someone born into privilege (manifested in the form of his super powers) would be a self absorbed twat. That's why I prefer a Lex who isn't born rich.

Ned Beatty or Young Justice series version?

Yeah, the thought of an amoral billionaire bent on World domination, motivated only by ego and greed seems really improbable.

Just an over familiar, overused trope.

He has a more interesting rogues gallery than that, if you have a decent knowledge of his lore or the imagination necessary to exploit them properly. For example, taking a B/C list character like Mr. Freeze and making him into a sympathetic, highly relatable villain.

Plus he's the villain in pretty much every Superman movie/show thus far? Give him this one off.

Aaaand, we have enough of that billionaire shit in real life right now. I'm going to the movies to escape from reality. I don't need a fictionalized version of Musk or Trump when reality is far worse than a screenwriter could ever come up with.

Superman has been around for nearly 100 years now, surely there's been a few comics that featured villains other than Lex Luthor.

Decided to look, and of the 7 Superman movies (including BvS), Luthor has been in 5 of them. It would be nice to see other foes like Brainiac, Parasite, Metallo, etc. But who knows, could be Luthor will just be established and there will be another supervillain taking center stage.

Kind of shocking we have only got maybe 5 standalone superman movies and maybe 7 batman movies where he is not in the justice league or fighting superman.

I dont think ive seen the guy they picked for superman in anything. But he looks like a giant dork in that picture wearing a bow tie. My wife already said thats not her superman (she love HC)

On looks alone, i would have picked Trey Tucker from Heels. Has the face and body.

Corenswet has a Superman-y look to him but he needs to be hitting the gym hard between now and principal photography.
