Anyone else see the Pierson Fodé audition reel? It's cool he hired a professional stunt team but it looks like he's auditioning for Homelander rather than Superman. I mean, he eye beams a guy in the face and then punches him for good measure.

Cynically speaking, I could see it being agent driven. Even if he doesn't get the part, his name will get out there for other roles.

Might could be. Or he could be a huge fanboy of the character, like when Thomas Jane got a professional makeup artist to help him when he was gunning for the role of Jonah Hex.

Re: Superman: Legacy (2025, D: Gunn)

Screen Tests occurred recently and some details emerged

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/mo...73e828aa12daf1

Gunn, who is writing and directing the feature, held screen tests the weekend of June 17 on the Warners lot in Burbank, and the process has been kept in a lead-lined box as Gunn shows the assembled cuts to a deciding committee of executives, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav among them. Despite the secrecy, some details have emerged, even as the final choice has not.Gunn, according to sources, assembled three actors and three actresses for Superman and Lane, respectively, and on Saturday, the first day of the testing, the actors were seen in predetermined pairs: Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan; Tom Brittney and Phoebe Dynevor; and David Corenswet and Emma Mackey. They were given several scenes to film, in which the males were in makeup and wardrobe as Daily Planet reporter Kent while the females were plucky journalist Lane.

Then on Sunday, Hoult, Brittney and Corenswet did another series of screen tests, this time in costume as Superman. Interestingly, only Mackey was brought in that day to portray Lane opposite the actors.

Sources caution that just because Mackey segued into the second day does not mean she is the front-runner for Lane, although it may be hard not to draw that conclusion.

Gunn had an assembled cut of the screen tests by Wednesday to show to Warners brass. A decision could come this week.

And once the decisions on Kent and Lane are made, Gunn will quickly pull the trigger on the next wave. Sources say there is also a shortlist for villain Lex Luthor (siblings Alexander and Bill Skarsgard have been mentioned as being on it, and it’s not clear whether Hoult, who was initially wanted for the part before deciding to try for Kent/Superman, would put himself in the running again.) There are also other heroes to cast, such as members of a supergroup named the Authority (part of the new storyline is Superman joining a world in which superheroes already exist).

Gunn hopes to have Superman: Legacy before cameras in early 2024, in time for a July 11, 2025, release.

Corenswet, Mackey, and Bill Skarsgard for the win.

David Corenswet looks like a young Tom Welling, and I THINK Gunn is seriously considering Michael Rosenbaum for Lex (although they're both being sly about it and about denying it)...if that comes to pass, I think fans are going to love it. As far as Mackey? I don't know enough about her to make a judgment, but I wasn't excited about Brosnahan at all (I know many want her to get it).

I’d have no problem with Rosenbaum as Lex. He and Gunn are buddies though, so it might also be then messing around.

I'm a hard pass on Bill, but Alex Skarsgard could work. I like how Luthor was depicted in All-Star Superman and Luthor, where he more or less was this perfect man: a handsome, fit, charming, super genius that you almost want to root for.

I don't see it happening. Gunn has inherited a bunch of confusing garbage. I think he just wants (or should want) a clean slate. No alternate universe bullshit. Just new faces across the board. Why go down this road?

I'm hoping for Mark Strong.

Yeah no way in hell Rosenbaum comes back. The DC situation is already confusing enough for people who aren't hardcore nerds.

Rosenbaum has 2 podcasts going and is attending cons all over the world still milking his previous Smallville fame. He ain't hurting for money. I've met him twice at 2 Cons, cool dude. He even said on his Podcast recently that he had enough of playing Lex after 7 seasons on Smallville.

They seem like the best choices. I like Hoult, but I don’t think I would buy him as Superman. I do think he would work for Lex. I don’t think he has the chin for Superman.

Never heard of either of them but I’m okay with that. Nice to have fresh faces that I don’t have an opinion on.

I will say though I wish Cavill would have gotten more of a chance.

Re: Superman: Legacy (2025, D: Gunn)

Comic Con 2023 would be a perfect opportunity to create to some buzz for this and have Gunn introduce them in Hall H. I last read that WB hasn't decided whether they are going or not. While Gunn is a WGA writer, he's also the CEO and a member of the DGA, so he can still participate. But, if there is an Actor's strike, then you can forget it.

You've never heard of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? It was a big hit for Amazon Prime, won a bunch of Emmys and just concluded a 5-season run. Brosnahan was the lead/title character.

Rachel Brosnahan is an amazing actress. She was wonderful on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. My only real complaint with that show is that show seemed to drag a little whenever she wasn't on camera. I can't wait to see her play Lois Lane.

I've heard of her and all the acclaim she's received, but I just never watched that series. Corenswet on the other hand, I've never heard of. Although I see he's on that HBO miniseries "We Own This City" which I did see, but I wouldn't know who he was in that.
