Things you love in movies, even though you know it is not depicted accurately?

What things do you really love seeing in a movie, even though you know how it is being depicted in the movie is not accurate?

Time travel

Various time travel movies utilize different "rules". My favorite time travel rule is from "Timecop", but the rule is broken in many other time travel movies.

Same matter can't occupy the same space (basically you can't make physical contact with your past or future self)

Violence. Even ignoring the trauma and suffering, real life killing is almost never visual. Someone is shot and they fall down before you even know what's happened. It's empty, rarely even "exciting" in a disturbing/frightening way.

Given how many cells we replace on a regular basis (like in skin, hair, nails, etc), am I really the same matter as my past self? Similar, maybe. Exactly the same? I've always wondered about that rule.

Don't know how accurate it is. Muzzle flashes with automatic weapons. I've kinda assumed the flashes are added or exaggerated in post production. Whichever, they're cool.

Guns with silencers. From what I've heard from folks who supposedly know, they don't sound like that in real life.

Was going to say that. Of course it isn't accurate but how boring would scifi be without the great sound design that comes with some of our favorite movies set in space.

People falling and surviving.

Whether in an Iron Man suit or Superman catching them right before they fall, every single time they depict in the way they suddenly stop that person would be dead. But what fun would that be.

Dead silence in space can work in some contexts, but when there are big space battles going silently, it just doesn't feel right to not hear lasers pew-pew-pewing, engines humming, and explosions. Even if it's scientifically accurate, it seems like something is missing.

Has anyone ever attempted to show a scientifically accurate space battle? Don't even know what that would be like.

Any action involving guns is never portrayed accurately because no one is wearing ear protection. The only gun you could shoot without any would be a .22 rifle or pistol. Gunfire really is that loud up close.

Do bubbles from scuba tanks and air hoses really make a "bubbling" sound underwater?

Yeah, I just learned from reading a site like this one (maybe the AV Club?) that Bruce Willis suffered some hearing loss filming Die Hard, as even blanks fired from a prop gun can be crazy loud. Many years back after I went Skeet shooting I started to notice how many folks fire shot guns in film/tv shows with no ear protection, and it just takes me temporarily out of the moment I was watching on screen knowing that firing a shotgun (or most types of guns) creates a dangerously loud boom that can rather quickly harm your ability to hear. I have seen folks wearing ear protection when watching skeet shooting scenes in British productions, so I usually have no bone to pick with those scenes.

I am not sure that in Moonraker ear protection is being worn in that scene where the bad guy is hunting with a shotgun, I would have to double-check, but even for films I love for a moment seeing no ear protection (or evidence that at least some soft foam/silicone ear plugs are being used) makes me shake my head at what I am seeing.

I love all the bullet play in Hard Boiled, but yeesh, Chow Yun Fat should be so deaf by the end of the film that he could not hear a nuclear explosion if it went off two feet from where he was standing, lol.

Put your head underwater in a pool and have someone use a snorkel to blow bubbles underwater. I’d guarantee you’d here something.
