Re: Thanksgiving (2023, D: Eli Roth)
Eli Roth is just a terrible filmmaker. His debut Cabin Fever was OK, but nothing special and everything after that was just horrible. The Hostel movies are the worst, just torture porn, without anything clever. The Saw sequels at least try to tell a story around the violence.
That is such a stupid phrase.

NSFW:
Here's the new red band trailer and it looks fantastic. NSFW for briefly showing some of the kills.

It looks excellent - love the killers motions and love that he's out for vengeance for the black Friday killer.

The Killer is now named John Carver and Sony even created an Instagram page for him.
Eli Roth clearly had to expand the story and the setup of being out for vengeance because of a tragedy on Black Friday is a brilliant setup for the movie.

The first poster is a spoof on My Bloody Valentine.

Re: Thanksgiving (2023, D: Eli Roth)
Anyone know if the movie will have any early screenings or if any reviews might leak early? I checked my closest theater and its only playing on one screen and its the smallest theater. Im planning to go this weekend but that's not a good sign it will be any kind of hit.

I'm in the theater right now for a 7:30 showing. The majority of reviews I've read have been positive so far. I guess I wanted to see it before all the spoilers are out.

Overall I thought the movie was good. Roth fleshed out the story and turned it into a whodunit slasher kind of like Scream against the backdrop of Thanksgiving. It's actually meant as statement on the horrors of greed and consumerism on Black Friday. 🤣 It would be cool if it turned into a hit but not sure if many people will show up to see it.

Probably Roths best film. Which isn’t exactly high praise. The kills were good and the reveal was okay. The trailer is still better.

Saw it tonight. If you saw the fake trailer from Grindhouse you’ve seen nearly every great kill in this. The original fake trailer is far more brutal though. Enjoyable film, good blend of black comedy and a message against gross consumerism. The final 10 mins are a bit of a letdown and take it down a notch in my book.

Re: Thanksgiving (2023, D: Eli Roth)
There are a few notable kills from the fake trailer that were toned down or left out of the movie. It's sucks but it didn't affect me from enjoying the movie.
