About time Toho put some serious effort into the Godzilla sfx. That looked really...well, realistic. 👍🏿 Godzilla blended with the real people like he was there. I agree that the post war setting is very interesting as well.

That looks amazing, very much in the vein of Shin Godzilla. Very likely a solo film, but I hope to see a matchup story in a future installment with this vibe.

This has me curious as well. If they proceed with this franchise, will we get re-imaginings of the old school kaiju from the Godzilla verse set in the 1950s and 60s? If so, I would love to see that kind of nostalgia trip. Those old school monster movies seem to click better during that time period.
Terms of the trailer, really like it. Glad to see that they appear to be taking Godzilla back to his atomic terror roots.

Tickets will be available shortly but my AMC theaters will not be showing it in any premium screens, because they've got those booked for that Beyonce concert film. Bummer.

I was in Tokyo last week and saw a Toho Cinemas displaying a poster. It actually opens there on Friday

And yes that Godzilla head is real. it's at one of the top floors of a hotel right next to the movie theater.
Man, I would have loved to have stayed in Tokyo longer and have seen it there.

Could’ve sworn I posted this clip from ALWAYS SUNSET ON THIRD STREET – already mentioned by RocShemp in the second post of this thread – but I don’t see a post by me in here at all, so it might have been in the Asian Cinema thread. For those that haven’t seen the ALWAYS films, they’re excellent, and deeply nostalgic, but this opener from the second one pretty much illustrates why this director got the MINUS ONE gig:
