Jurassic World: Dominion (2022, D: Trevorrow) -- S: Pratt, Howard -- The Spoiler Review Thread

This summer, experience the epic conclusion to the Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live--and hunt--alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history's most fearsome creatures.

Showings for this start as early as 4pm on Thursday. So if you happen to be one of the early ones, feel free chime away at how awesome it is or how much you hated it untagged.

I know most here can't see it that early, so be warned after 7pm if you see activity in this thread around that time, be warned of spoilers. Unless you simply don't care.

My local paper called it a Dina-snore adventure, lol. Not sure how this type of movie could be boring and I'll go see it for sure.

I don't think reviews will keep most people away. People love to see dinosaurs on the big screen.

It can't be worse than the last one... can it????

I'll still see it over the weekend.

Most say it's better than the last one, but make a point to mention that that's faint praise at best.

Going today, expectations are very low for me, why do I even bother? But here we go.

Don't use age as a reason to be super picky. I'm willing to bet I'm much older than you and I try to find positives in things instead of negatives. Too old for THAT shit.

That "whoosh" happened when the embargo was lifted.

Ha! This one made me lol:

If 100 Tyrannosaurus rexes were put into a room with 100 typewriters, pounding away with their adorable tiny claws, they would likely produce something of greater value than the witless bombast of “Jurassic World Dominion.”

This was awful. Whoever wrote the script probably watched Top Secret to fill in the blanks. The only thing smart, resilient, and just trying to survive were:

The Locust Swarms

Nope, all and I mean all survive. The only victims in the movie were the locust. I felt bad for them.

This was pretty bad... the only good thing was the makeup and lighting crew made Dallas look really pretty.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Much more than JW 2 and much more than JP 3. I was entertained throughout. I liked the full circle fan service with the original 3 and I thought Goldblum as always stole the show. I think the critics were overly harsh.

One thing though, now that Disney owns Indiana Jones, Universal came dangerously close to copyright infringement with that Sam Neill cave scene with the torch and the grabbing of the hat.

But yeah I enjoyed it. Solid 3.5/5

The only real failure for me was the bumble fuck of a villain. But oh well he wasn’t in it much and he got a good death.

Re: Jurassic World: Dominion (2022, D: Trevorrow) -- S: Pratt, Howard -- The Spoiler Review Thread

This movie was the definition of average to me. I expected more from Jeff Goldblum. He just seemed to show up for a paycheck. Bryce Dallas Howard has the most beautiful eyes. I half-expected someone to die, but every main character lived, even the new ones. I'll probably buy Blu-Ray just to complete the collection, but probably won't watch again unless I just want to binge Jurassic Park movies.

Re: Jurassic World: Dominion (2022, D: Trevorrow) -- S: Pratt, Howard -- The Spoiler Review Thread

The movie is not horrible...which is not to say it's good. It's just rather forgettable. The script seems to have forgotten that the story should in some way revolve around the dinosaurs. They just seem like obstacles that the characters need to manage more than anything else in this movie.

Here's one thing that REALLY annoyed me: They kept having Bryce covered in a blanket or shot close up. Hey, we know she's put on a little weight over the last couple of years, but sheesh - it's not like she's huge or unattractive. I wanted to hate the movie solely for that.
