Early screenings for this start Tuesday night. So if you don't want to be spoiled, I would stay out of this thread until you are able to see it. I read that you want to avoid spoilers for this. But, not sure how many here are able to see it Tuesday.
I already got my ticket for Tuesday. Will be seeing it after work. Hopefully the free pin and print they are giving out are cool.

Iron Eagle is a staple of 80's movies. It was made in the 80's. first viewed in the 80's and should stay in the 80's. still thrilling throwback today. Jason Gedrick and Louis Gossett were a great team.

For those of you, including myself, who are seeing this Tuesday night, here are the two Top Gun gifts they are giving out. An original print poster and a pin. I believe an NFT is also included.

I just got back from seeing it. Loved Loved it. It was awesome. This is what going to the movies is all about. 200 plus room auditorium 98% sold out with laughs and cheers. Only the neck breakers were left.
The flying scenes and the combat scenes were exhilarating. It was 131 minutes long, but didn't feel at all like it. I thought it was way better than the 1st movie. The 1st movie was more like a glorified music video, this one actually had a story, mission and stakes.
And yes, see this on a big screen. This was absolutely designed to be seen on the biggest screen possible. I saw it on Cine 1 screen at Harkins, but will see it again in Dolby on Friday. There was an introduction by Cruise in the beginning briefly saying how this movie was made for the fans and to be seen here. Someone yelled out after he finished, "I love you Tom"
There were some nice callbacks to the 1st movie. The funeral scene was Ice Man's funeral. He and Maverick had a very moving scene together. I was happy to hear Kilmer speak, but with a really raspy voice. He actually didn't sound that awful.
One piece of dialogue from the trailer was not used when Hamm said to Cruise in the trailer that Admiral Tom Kazansky aka Iceman summoned him. They dropped the aka part.
Lots of laughs and cheers. Big applause at the end when the video credits rolled and showed the casts faces and who they played.
Funny thing about the giveaway, they made patrons stand in a separate line for the pin at the ticket window so they could check your seat. The posters they handed out at the main entrance once they scanned your ticket.

Just got back from my IMAX showing and loved it. I'm not really a fan of the first film, but this one fired on all cylinders. The Dark Star was beyond cool and can see why China moved one of their satellites (to get a better look) when they were filming this thinking it was a real plane. It's not, it's mock-up, but I found that funny when I read about it the other day. I really like the pin they gave us, too.
I may see this again over the weekend in Dolby Cinema. The 4K disc should be demo.

In retrospect I do think it was funny that they never referred to the country/facilities by actual name. Who was the enemy anyway? Also the enemy's aircraft were some "5th generation" fighters. Ok?
I'm just nitpicking there, but I still liked the film a lot.

The mystery country didn't bother me. It was an "enemy" so who cares.
BTW, Jennifer Connelly looked great.
I guess I didn't pay that close attention, but I didn't realize her character Penny was an unseen legacy character from the 1st movie.

For someone who’s 51 with 3 kids, I thought she still looks great. She’s definitely not going to look like she did in her 20s. And for this movie, she was an age appropriate love interest for Cruise’s character. Cruise usually plays younger, but they acknowledge that 30 plus years have gone by since the original and Pete is 50 something with no family.
By the way, did hear it right that Goose’s widow passed away? I heard Pete say that he promised to her that he would look after her son before she died. And that’s one of the reasons why he set him back in his Navy career.

I just realized that the final mission is basically the same as the bombing run in Star Wars when they try to take out the Death Star by hitting the flaw in the build.

Its hard to believe this will be Tom Cruises first $100 million opening weekend.
Even adjusted for inflation, M:I 2 comes up about two million short.
