I heard Branagh actually shot a lot of this in Venice, Italy. Unlike the previous 2 movies that used a lot of green screen and digital backgrounds from 2nd Unit photography. I know some here complained that a lot of Death on the Nile looked fake.

I'm cool with that. The last two were about 2 hrs and could have shed a little runtime.

I may have seen the Suchet version of this, but I don't remember it if I have. It will be good to finally get one of these where the denouement is actually a mystery to me walking in.

Reviews aren't out yet, but it sounds like word is pretty positive. Possibily the best of the 3.

That’s good to hear. Death on the Nile was damn near a Star Wars prequel.

Some parts of Death reminded me of old PC games that used full motion video on top of digital backgrounds.

Wow. I loved the first two. I hadnt even heard of this until I walked into an AMC to see a movie tonight and noticed Poirot's mustache on the poster! I think I'd heard the title before, but I figured it was a horror movie and I had no interest. I liked the first few posts but lost track when the title was announced. They need some sort of Poirot: Movie Title type of title!
Okay, I'm in! I have a busy weekend but wow, I'd love to go opening weekend!

The tv advertising for this doesn't make it clear that it's a Poirot mystery. This is expected to open at a low $12m - $13m this weekend. I'm looking forward to it.

There is an early fan screening tonight, but I can't go because I have some work at home for a job this weekend. I'll try to see this Sunday or Monday.
For the record, the fan screening is giving out a luggage tag.
Branagh has been able to promote this since he's DGA. I've seen some video ads and interviews with him.

I saw the trailer for this months ago and I thought it was a horror movie until Poirot appeared. I need to watch the second film in the series.

Oh wow, did we enjoy this. I took our oldest to Death on the Nile last year and I surprised her with this after school.
I really enjoyed the very different kind of story and setting than the first two movies. It's obviously set in a world that doesn't expect the supernatural, yet also leaves just the tiniest room for "What if?..." all throughout. Good intrigue, good twists, and lots of funny dialogue. I had a hunch on the ending and appreciated there were several puzzles for Poirot to figure out.
We caught this in the Dolby theater and the sound and picture were SO GOOD. It truly is a better movie experience.
I hope Branagh keeps making these on and on. Again, what a great way to keep the series fresh with a very different kind of setting. Great stuff!

Wow, this is the most visually appealing movie I've seen this year. The use of lenses and strange angles give the frame distorted and disorienting perspectives, but not in an over-the-top way that calls attention to itself or becomes silly. A great mesh between cinematography and set design. The early showing of a shadow-play also immediately gives the rest of the movie its atmosphere. When they cut back to day time at the end, you really feel the difference of coming out into another world. Even though I'm only mild on the story (after so many years of these mystery stories, it's hard to find something fresh), the fact that nearly the entire movie takes place in this incredibly atmospheric and creepy setting, makes it more than worth seeing on the big screen.

Might be my favorite of the three.

Just got out of the theater. Really liked this one. Smart, kind of creepy. Atmospheric. I didn't like the trailer at all but the movie actually works.
Let's keep it going for a few films. And let's end with a film adaptation of Curtain.

Caught this one yesterday afternoon. In terms of eye popping visuals, I think I preferred Death on the Nile. But the plot and acting for this one was probably the best of the series. This was also the first time I didn't read the source material, and my understanding is it bares little resemblance to it, so nothing was really spoiled. The jump scare stuff wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it wasn't done for cheap effect either. I also think this may have been the least expensive of the three because compared to the other two, it seemed somewhat scaled back, and it was better for it. Solid ***/****
I wonder if this will be streaming in time for Halloween weekend since it is technically a Halloween movie?

6 weeks from opening would be 11/28. So it's very likely.

The movie is so quiet at times it is causing the people to realize how noisy other people are in the theater. I've seen multiple posts about bad theater etiquette that are all from people seeing this movie.
I did fall asleep in it (didn't snore, but someone else in the theater was) and through it had too many slow parts.

Caught a matinee today. I liked this one. Smartly written and has great visuals and is also simplistic. Branagh continues to be really good as Poirot and I liked how he tied everything to together at the end. Tina Fey looked really great dressed in period costume and makeup. I liked her character's interactions with Poirot.
I'd love to see Branagh keep making these movies every few years. They aren't expensive movies. This made slightly more than Death on the Nile's opening weekend (but that movie was pandemic impacted) This movie had little promotion.
Overall, my favorite of the 3 movies.
