Nitram (2022, D: Kurzel) S: Caleb Landry Jones, Judy Davis, Essie Davis, Anthony LaPaglia

Opening in theaters and VOD March 30

Director: Justin Kurzel
Starring: Caleb Landry Jones, Judy Davis, Essie Davis, Anthony LaPaglia

Based on a true story, Nitram is an isolated young man living with his parents in Australia until he meets an eccentric heiress. What follows is a gripping portrait of nihilism and violence.
This premiered at Cannes last year, where Caleb Landry Jones won the Best Actor award.

Watched this last night. Thought it was really well done. Jones was amazing. Nice touch by using the real killers name backwards for the title of the film.

This is based on a true story, a horrific one at that from the mid 1990s down under.

I saw the great reviews this film got across the board. I thought this was an outstanding character study.

All 4 of the main actors were good, especially Caleb Landry Jones. A powerhouse performance.

If you like character studies and smaller films, you should check this out.

It’s a very very bleak film, but it is so well done.

I actually read up on the tragic incident before seeing this and it didn’t matter that I knew what was gonna happen at the end.

This will likely be in my Top 20 for movies in 2022. Maybe Top 10. I was mesmerized the whole way.
