Well, here goes.

After having seen the new family movie “IF”, I can describe the movie in exactly three words: Sweet, bittersweet and melancholy.

A young girl (Cailey Fleming) who has already lost her mother is facing the possibly of losing her father (John Krasinski) to illness, but is suddenly swept into the world of a strange man (Ryan Reynolds) whose job seems to be to find new friends for a menagerie of imaginary creatures abandoned by former children who’ve outgrown them.

The movie is NOT the laugh fest promised by the TV trailers, but it was delightful hearing children’s’ laughter at appropriate scenes during the screening I attended. And yes, I definitely chuckled a few times.

The imaginary creatures were fun and yes, sweet for the most part, brought to life with computer animation.

The only PG rated stuff was limited to some thematic plot points and language limited to a couple of d**n, h**l and “God’ used inappropriately a half-dozen times.

While I found it generally entertaining, I am not sure how rewatchable it might be, and I am going to give “IF” 3.5 out of 5 lightsabers. Definitely worth a watch at least once, but make sure you go with kids and grandkids, and enjoy the magic in their eyes during the movie.

Will be on Paramount Plus on Tuesday. I decided to pass on this in the theater, but I’ll check it out on P+

Saw this a few weeks back in theaters.

Enjoyed the character design, themes and performances but it isn't a film I see myself re-visiting in the near future.

Just saw this... thought it would be a good movie to watch with my daughter (6 yrs old), but it's not a movie for little ones. There's a few laughs for the little ones, but it really is made for adults.
