Saw this yesterday with a friend and his daughter. When I met them at the theater they mentioned they saw a kid wearing a popcorn bucket on his head. When we left the theater in a daze after seeing this amazing movie, the daughter said maybe that kid saw Everything and he put the bucket on his head to contain his brain

James Hong is in his 90s but doesn't look a day older than he did in Wayne's World 2
Went and saw a cheap show of this today without interruption, enjoyed it a good deal though feel like the first Part goes on a little too long. Life, The Universe and Everything Bagels.

The directors did an interview with podcaster -- and physicist -- Sean Carroll, the same physicist who answered the Portal question.

He's my favorite podcaster, so I'll be listening to this for sure. Thought others here might enjoy the discussion.

Watched it last night. Thought it was quite good and Michelle Yeoh was fantastic. Not as over-the-moon as many are about it. I liked it but it didn't really blow my mind like I expected. Not sure I totally followed everything that happened. It might be a movie that benefits from a second watching. But I was certainly entertained, never once checked my watch. It was a well-done film, I might have just had it over-hyped a bit before seeing it.

I had the same response - but I enjoyed it and was happy to be back in a theater again.

I saw this with my son yesterday. I felt it was a good movie telling a standard story but in a unique and outlandish way. There is a lot of fun to be had with this both visually and emotionally, but I can see where some would hate it while others go over the top with praise.

Yeah, that's exactly where I am with it. I didn't find it too confusing because I've actually done a little reading on the underlying scientific premise, but either way, Yeoh was phenomenal; perfect for the part. I was thoroughly entertained, but coming out of it, I don't have an immediate desire to revisit it, except to maybe go frame by frame through one part near the end, just to see all the different shots in a thirty second burst.

Went back for a second time last night with some friends who had not seen it. Still love it. Remarkable film. It's the first non Marvel film I've seen more than once in a theater in a while.

Absolutely amazing. Saw this last night, in the midst of a major relationship shift, and it really spoke to me.

Garfield got the hot dog fingers.
A few weeks ago there was a photo of him and Tobey Maguire at a screening of the movie too.

This is legging out pretty well. Estimating $5.3m this weekend, down 2% based on Friday numbers. Wonder how the IMAX pull is.
Last weekend it did $5.4m which was down only 12% from the weekend prior which was $6.2m (up 2% from its prior)
It's at $31m domestic which is A24s 4th highest after Uncut Gems, Hereditary and Lady Bird.

Finally caught this. Waiting to see it panned out since I got to see it in Imax (regal LieMax, but close enough). I thought it was great. Theater was pretty full.

Just got back from an IMAX showing (premium screens definitely are a draw for me) I didn't watch any of the trailers so I went in having seen very little. Very entertaining...a little too silly for me at times, I would've cut one or two of the stories just to simplify things and shorten it a bit - but that's really my only criticism. Would love to see Michelle Yeoh get some awards consideration - had no idea she turns 60 this yr, she still looks amazing!

The film has now eclipsed $47 million at the box office. It will soon be the No. 1 grossing film in A24 history, surpassing Uncut Gems. The legs on this film has been incredibly impressive, keeps pulling in around 3 million per weekend.
As a huge fan of A24, this is fantastic to see.

(I still like A24, just sometimes it's like, they need to shake up their vibe a little)

Local mom/pop theater posted this on FB yesterday:
We’ve never shown a movie as long as we have this one. It’s almost broke every record of ours. This makes us incredibly giddy and excited about the love of cinema and original films.
Select shows through 5/26 still available!

This movie is beautiful. The visuals are exciting. The sci-fi story was cool enough. But the characters and themes and messages left me in tears. I could barely take it all in. Love when a movie can do that. Good shit.

Re: Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022, D: Kwan & Scheinert) S: Michelle Yeoh
I saw the movie this week, and I'm still processing it. But I was curious as to how other theaters handled the aspect ratio changes. Yes, I'm a projectionist geek. At my theater (an AMC), the masking was out to scope, but the movie started flat (windowboxed, black bars on the sides). When scope scenes came on, then it became letterboxed AND windowboxed, a small image in the center of the screen surrounded by black bars on all four sides. Is that what everyone else got?
It would make sense if the scope scenes were bigger, but making them smaller was just plain stupid.

I didn't run into the problem, the standard ratio for the movie was 1.85:1 which filled the screen in my auditorium, but if it was a scope screen I could see that issue popping up. The 4:3 sequences mostly filled the screen from top to bottom here and the scope sequences ran the full length of the screen but that wouldn't be the case in all auditoriums.
