What's wrong with the current date? I haven't seen anything about it being an issue.

SAG & WGA strike. The movie is done and wrapped, but you can't put this movie out there without promotion from the stars and promotion on the talk show circuit.

And as I said, the actors need to travel the world to promote it as well.

It hasn't been pulled yet, but it would be a huge gamble if the strikes aren't resolved beforehand.

They also probably want to spread the content they have in the can around, because this strike is most likely going to be a long-hauler.

I suspect it will still be going at the end of the year, and probably won't be resolved until next summer at the earliest.

Denis Villeneuve got stiffed with WarnerMedia’s theatrical day-and-date experiment, which prevented the movie from being the Star Wars blockbuster it could have been; the pic still is one of the highest-grossing movies of the 2021 pandemic at $402 million worldwide and notched several Oscar wins. As of today, 2une: I Could Dune This All Day is not moving, but if Zendaya with her 200 million social media followers can turn Challengers into a counterprogramming success, she can certainly help in trumpeting the feature take of the Frank Herbert novel. Of course, it stands to reason that Villeneuve and Legendary are going to wait this sci-fi spectacle out; why would they allow it to become distribution collateral damage again? I hear Legendary, which is in the pilot’s seat here on the pic’s fate, is in wait-and-see mode and has until September before 2une: I Could Dune This All Day‘s next leg of marketing has to go. If 2une: I Could Dune This All Day moves, where does it go? I hear there are three spring options, and you just have to look at the release calendar: March, April or a break in the summer connected to a possible Cannes Film Festival launch. Warners already has the following dates on hold in regards to where 2une: I Could Dune This All Day could go: March 15, where Legendary has its next Godzilla/King Kong movie; April 19, which they have on reserve for an event title; or June 21, an untitled open slot for the Burbank lot.

I hope the date stays because the strikes are resolved, but I do think it needs promotion for sure. Do what's best for the movie!

Well, at least we're back to having a Ghostbusters movie released in every year a Dune movie comes out. Yeah, I track weird things like that.

Well. Now I can safely cancel my Regal Unlimited after the September billing. Was going to go one more month to see this and what ever minor curiosity pieces were released in the same time frame.

Disappointing for sure, will they be able to secure 3+ wks of IMAX screens? As of now it's another overcrowded March but I'd expect more movement. (Snow White to Disney+ seems like a no brainer)

and with the move it's no longer in the running for the 2023 Oscars.

Well that's disappointing. That's a pretty substantial delay.

Not really that surprising. Doesn't Legendary pictures have a pretty substantial financial stake in this movie? Of course they want it to do way better than the 1st one, which was day and date. So they need the actors to go around the world to promote the shit out of it.

While I was really looking forward to seeing this in November, I can wait. I'm hoping that the delay in profits to the studios will weigh on them and be another reason for them to negotiate in good faith with SAG-AFTRA/WGA.

Why does Deadline say it is going up against The Fall Guy? I thought that one moved to May.

Is it too late to suggest "2une: Dune Time on Arrakis"?

They could have called it Dunes.

Or, the way they've been titling films these days, just Dune. Or The Dune.

Since no one is going to be using it, how about Dune: Dead Reckoning Part Two.

Rise of Dune( or the equally popular Dune Rises) or Dawn of Dune.

Although I do like the idea of the sequel to Dune being called Dune.

If it starts playing that early, will anyone even remember it come awards season a year from then?
