Alia will be played by Karen Gillan. They're going to use CGI to shrink her down to about three feet.

If they were casting Alia now, I would go with Anya Taylor-Joy. However, Villeneuve has stated that he intends to wait a few years before doing Messiah if that one gets greenlit, as he wants time for the actors to age into the roles. So by then she would have most likely aged out of it. By that time there will probably be a new late teens/early 20s "it girl" to cast.

re: Dune: Part Two (2024, D: Villeneuve) 2une: I Could Dune This All Day

Long Live the Fighters. #DunePartTwo only in theaters November 3.

The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”

The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.

Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.

“Dune: Part Two” was filmed on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy. The film is slated for a November 3, 2023 worldwide release from Warner Bros. Pictures.

Looks as beautiful, stunning, slow and boring as the first part. I almost fell asleep watching the first one. Can easily wait for the home release here.

I'm constantly trying to convince my friends that movies are made to be seen in theaters. After seeing Dune, I told them if they're ever going to go to the theater (for something other than Marvel) that Dune was the movie to go see. I begged them. Told them it wasn't half as good at home on tv. I even saw it twice, which is not something I do often. No one listened to me. I cried.

Yeah, loved Part 1 and didn't think it was boring at all. It's quite refreshing having this close out the year instead of some bullshit MCU crap. I will be seeing it in IMAX.

This looks great. I hope they stick to the taller aspect ratio on home video. I was disappointed that the IMAX shots of the first film remained cropped at 2.39:1 on 4K UHD BD.

Oh, let me clarify, I saw this on HBOMAX at least three times and then on Blu-ray a couple more times.

The only reason I’m saying I’d go to the theater for this one is because I don’t want to wait for the disc release.

Having re-watched the trailer a few times, there is only one thing that kind of bugs me and that's Chalamet's "Nothing fancy.." line. I know that they are trying to make the material accessible to the general movie goer, but to me it seems like Chalamet is trying to play Paul as a Tom Cruise type character. Nitpick for sure, but it just seems weird given the rest of the stuff.

I wonder if they'll eventually adapt the crazy ass sequels.

I know most dislike it but I really enjoyed Dune Messiah. I also really enjoyed Children of Dune. God Emperor of Dune was a slog to get through, however, and where I left off. I have meant to read the other two books Frank Herbert wrote (Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune), as well as the two-part conclusion (Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune) by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. I've no interest in reading any of the prequels.

I kinda liked the last two original novels best. Still think series format is best for any Dune adaptation, but I'm down for whatever now!

Villeneuve has stated he only wants to go as far as Messiah. Personally I think that Children and God Emperor would be best handled by Guillermo del Toro .

Any word yet of places playing both as a double bill yet? Have never read or seen any iteration of Dune but am vaguely familiar with the story and universe from multiple friends and family telling me about it throughout the years.

Did you really catch a test screening? You know you’re not supposed to talk about it online. They make you sign an NDA.

I saw a test screening of Dune Part Two a few weeks ago.

I was really kind of shocked that Zendaya did a lengthy full-frontal nude scene. She really looked gorgeous out of that stillsuit. You literally saw everything. I'm surprised she did it since she always stays fully dressed in Euphoria.

I hope they don't remove it to get a PG-13 rating.
