NTTD has now surpassed $300M worldwide.

Yeah, I would say the franchise is fine. The model for movie franchises is undergoing a permanent change due to the pandemic, so the theatrical experience is becoming more something for people who just want to see the film in the traditional method.

Not mine. Young crowd at my sold out Dolby Cinema screening.

I didn’t really pay attention to my crowd. I think it seemed like a mix. Pretty full at my Saturday 3pm showing.

We thought it was very good, but it was too damn long.

Ana de Armas stole the whole thing.

She was awesome.

Interesting that everyone seems to have the same sentiment that it's good but too damn long. Don't get me wrong, I agree! I really don't see why they had to give it such a long run time and limit its showings.

I didn’t feel the runtime necessarily. I agree it probably could have been trimmed a bit, but it wasn’t like I was checking the time frequently waiting for it to be over. It kept me captivated throughout.

With the really long running time, IMO it's going to limit it's replay value. I don't know about all of you, but while I enjoyed this movie, I don't have a sense of urgency to want to watch it again right away.

Random thought: is this the first Bond movie to feature a kid? Off the top of my head, I can't think of another instance of a kid showing up. I feel like there had to be a scene where a kid does something stupid and Roger Moore raises his eyebrow and mugs for the camera or something, but I'm coming up empty.

Liked it quite a bit, and definitely Craig's 2nd best Bond after the instant classic that is Casino Royale.

There was Jenny Flex in A View to a Kill.

Or Bibi Dahl in For Your Eyes Only. 🥸

Saturday 330pm show at the landmark on pico in LA. Had to help some older folks find their seats. They do a weird thing where it’s even numbers on the left and odd numbers in the right as you look at the screen. I’d say average age was 65.

I enjoyed the hell out of it. Had everything I want in a bond. Opening scene in a snowy landscape and I’m all In

A good, not great, James Bond outing. Ironically, in a movie that could have easily been edited down, Ana de Armas' appearance was way too short.

Re: No Time To Die (2021, D: Fukunaga) S: Daniel Craig -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

I saw this again today. I know I said earlier that the long running time would hinder repeat business. But, I had the $4 T-Mobile Atom promo to use that I didn't want to go to waste, so I caught a matinee.

I saw it at a Harkins theater in Cine 1, which is basically their version of Dolby Cinema. I don't go to Harkins very often, but it's a solid chain.

You know what I actually enjoyed it more the 2nd time around. The little nods to OHMSS were great, including We have all the time in the world playing during the end credits. Bond's goodbye message to Madeline at the end before he sacrificed himself was really moving.

I was a little unclear about something. What exactly was it that Safin used to poison Bond? Was it the bio weapon Heracules that was being manufactured on that island?

I'll be honest. Madeline really made no impression on me in Spectre, but I thought the character was better written here and a good love interest for Bond. The little girl who played Mathilde was really cute and smart.

and yes, yet again. Ana de Armas was severely underused. Man, she looked great in that dress and kicked ass in that sequence.

It will be interesting to see in the next movie who they decide to cast as Felix Leiter, if they use him.

I'm going to give this a B+ and an 8 out of 10 after seeing it twice. I think I'm good until it hits physical media next year.

Unless they do another prequel I don't know how they can use him, or James Bond, again. Are they going to turn the franchise into a soap opera where people come back from the dead?

I'm not sure what you mean. They are rebooting the franchise with whoever they cast as Bond next year or soon after. Barbara Broccoli said they plan to look for a new actor next year.

If they don't plan to use known Bond supporting characters, then great. But, the series isn't done after this.

Safin introduced Madeline's blood to the nanobots that were already in Bond's body, essentially made him a lethal carrier if he comes in contact with Madeline or any of her relative / offspring. Bond did not want to chance it so he chose to stay on the island.

Well that and he essentially was out of time. He had to re-open those blast doors so the missile strike would be effective, and after running into Safin and getting shot he was slow moving.

Re: No Time To Die (2021, D: Fukunaga) S: Daniel Craig -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

I thought this film was a bit of a mess. Great opening sequence, then it felt like we were re-visiting the same themes that were already covered in Skyfall and again in Spectre. I didn't have a problem with the conclusion, but I can't help but think this film ONLY exists for that conclusion - had they done it Spectre that film might have been better, honestly. Yeah, Craig would have had one less Bond film, but I think his overall body of work would have stood the test of time. For me, I got two out of five really good Bond movies from Craig. That's better than Brosnan (who, in my opinion only turned in one good outing), and while he's a good actor, he's always going to be one of the "lesser" James Bonds to me.

Hopefully, now that a complete reboot is happening again, they'll lighten things up a bit. I don't want to go back to the camp of the Roger Moore era (and honestly a lot of the Brosnan era), but I do think Bond needs to be a lot less dour and a lot more fun.

Re: No Time To Die (2021, D: Fukunaga) S: Daniel Craig -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

I really enjoyed the movie and thought it was a fitting end to the whole Craig arc. I didnt really remember what happened in Specter so it took me a little while to catch back up. I also like how they used Jamaica as Bonds retirement since that's where Ian Fleming basically spent his retirement, I believe his old compound is now a luxury hotel there...Goldeneye.

I know I shouldn't put logic into this especially for a Bond film, but where did Safin get all his money and his henchmen. I mean he had an army on his island. I suppose with killing off all of Specter he could have just assumed command of the henchmen. Also seemed like a huge plot hole that they were making more of the Hercules there. considering that the poison is actually Nano bots and not manufactured by plants. but I guess since Safin was a poison maker they needed him to be doing something on the island. Im probably overthinking this but if they were Nano bots then the emp blast should render them inert, but that would ruin the whole point of the movie.

Im definitely going to go see it in theaters again. Since its going to be another 4-5 years until the next one comes out.

Re: No Time To Die (2021, D: Fukunaga) S: Daniel Craig -- The Spoiler Reviews Thread

I remember seeing my first Bond(as a kid-that's important to remember) back in 1966(Thunderball) and if it had the same ending as No Time To Die then I would never had become a fan because it's not believable if they just restart Bond again like nothing happened(see Halloween and Friday the 13th movies).

Maybe a spaceship will land at his death site at the beginning of the next movie and a giant robot will come out of it and take Bond back into the spaceship and bring him back to life and the new Bond title could be-Day the Earth Stood Still Part 2(or Day the Bond Laid Still). I think the kid is still alive who was in the first one back in 1951(???) and could make a cameo.

It's funny. Prior to Casino Royale, every Bond film save one (OHMSS) basically ended the same. "We won; let's go fuck." The Craig Bond never got to do that. I guess the closest was Spectre, but he was quitting then so it wasn't really like a victory.

No Time To Fuck would have been a great title.
