They could not have made it look any blander.

If I get a free Red Box rental code, then sure I might rent it. But otherwise, I'll just wait until it hits HBO Max.

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

I came in this thread ready to defend the movie. I was going to say things like "harmless" and "how bad can it be".

I didn't watch the trailer. Just saw the thumbnail attached to the trailer.

I changed my mind.

No cgi gators, but there are cgi hippos!

Not that I'll actually watch it, but there is a reasonable amount of production value on display in that trailer.

Looks like it was filmed in South Africa so that’s probably why they were able to keep this production on the down low. It doesn’t look cheap like most of the crap Saban, Lionsgate and Vertical Entertainment put out DTV.

Hiring the entire cast from the Orange Julius stand next to the Aťropostale store at the mall probably helped keep costs down too.

That main actor looks like someone wanted Casper Van Dien but were told he was too expensive.

Nothing surprising about this. Thereís a Raging Bull 2, Jarhead 2,3,4. If you can acquire the name rights, there is someone out there who is willing to try and squeeze a nickel out of ANYTHING. Letís just be thankful that Eraser is a movie no one remembers fondly anyhow.

Yikes. It would be kinda nice if it gave us the original in 4K at least.

Apparently the Raging Bull 2 producers couldn't acquire the naming rights and had to rename their film The Bronx Bull.

'Raging Bull' sequel now 'The Bronx Bull,' no longer a 'Raging Bull' sequel | EW.com

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

Just another lame direct-to-video film that could've been called anything else as it bears zero resemblance to the 1996 original outside of uttering the words "You've been erased" several times. The acting is pretty wooden with the lead being so milk toast and the plot on the predictable side, plus the action is paint-by-numbers (plenty of ducking and shooting in the finale). I will say the only positive is the pyrotechnics wasn't bad and didn't rely on bad CGI, so there's that. **Ĺ/*****

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

This movie actually released?

Was the whole point of releasing the movie just to be on a future Buzzfeed clickbait article, "Top 10 films you had no idea had sequels."

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

It is on HBO Max.

It is a remake. Took me by surprise. It follows pretty much every story beat in slightly different plot and settings. And not expensive enough for the bigger set pieces. For example the plane sequence instead takes place in some rundown housing.

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

I enjoyed the original Eraser mostly for James Caan's performance.

When it comes to remakes Hollywood is always full of surprises.

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

I’ve seen the original a couple times so I watched this on HBO Max. Pretty lame, generic action flick.

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

Finally watched the trailer and agree with davidh777 that it looks like a not very memorable DTV flick, but it looks like it has enough action that I will give it a watch since it is on HBO Max.

I have seen Eraser at least 3 times, as already noted in this thread, once in theaters, once on Laserdisc. and at least one more time either on Blu or on HD when it was airing on Cable several years back, so I am not ashamed to admit I am a fan of the film but yes, this DTV sequel does not look like it holds a candle to one of Arnold's fun action films and just a fun action film in general to watch.

Re: Eraser: Reborn (2022)

I did see this on HBO Max last year. But, I completely forgot about it until this thread was resurrected. Thanks

Well, I don't really have much to say about it. It wasn't God awful, but it was a pretty forgettable 90's style straight to video action movie. The lead was pretty forgettable and same goes with the female lead.
