Ghosted (2023, D: Fletcher) - S: Chris Evans, Ana de Armas

Itís an Avengers-style reunion as Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, known for playing Captain America and Black Widow, respectively, are teaming up for Ghosted, an adventure movie project set up at Apple.

Dexter Fletcher, the helmer behind Rocketman, is set to direct the project, which will be written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the scribes behind Deadpool and Zombieland.

Evans will produce the project along with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger of Skydance, the company that made The Tomorrow War for Amazon. Reese and Werinick will also produce.

Details are behind kept under the white sheet but the project is being described as a high-concept romantic action adventure in the vein of Romancing the Stone, the 1984 adventure movie that starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.

There is no pricetag on the project but itís bound to be pricey. But itís also part of Appleís aggressive plan to attract top talent for its growing feature division. The streamer is currently in production on Emancipation, a slave drama starring Will Smith, and earlier this year filmed Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorseseís period thriller that stars Leonardo DiCaprio.

For Johansson, this is the second deal she has made since filing her lawsuit against Disney over alleged contract breaches with the Disney+ release of Black Widow. The first was coming on board the new Wes Anderson movie, which is now shooting in Spain.

Evans scored strong notices for his legal drama, Defending Jacob, which he made for Apple, and recently wrapped The Gray Man, an action thriller with Ryan Gosling that reunited him with his Avengers filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo.

Evans is repped by CAA, 3 Arts and attorney Jason Sloane. Johansson is repped by CAA and Morris Yorn.

This will be what... their 9th film together? Third outside of the MCU.

re: Ghosted (2023, D: Fletcher) - S: Chris Evans, Ana de Armas

Johansson dropped out a while back and was replaced with de Armas.

EXCLUSIVE: Following a busy fall in both the film and TV worlds, Adrien Brody is looking to stay busy as he set to join Apple Original Films’ Ghosted, starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. Dexter Fletcher is directing.

Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger are producing, along with Jules Daly. Evans will serve as producer and de Armas as an executive producer. The film’s writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland), also will be producers. They developed the project based on an original idea of theirs and pre-emptively sold it to Skydance.

The project is described as a high-concept romantic action-adventure film, and Apple acquired the high-profile project during the summer.

The third teaming up of Evans and de Armas...

Meeting that special someone can be a real adventure. Chris Evans and Ana de Armas star in Ghosted, a new film streaming April 21 only on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_Ghosted

Salt-of-the-earth Cole (Evans) falls head over heels for enigmatic Sadie (de Armas)—but then makes the shocking discovery that she’s a secret agent. Before they can decide on a second date, Cole and Sadie are swept away on an international adventure to save the world.

Looks kind of terrible, but I'm sure I'll watch it. Adrien Brody seems to be popping up a lot lately.

Best case scenario : This turns out to be more entertaining-enough mindless, intantly-forgettable action fluff like The Gray Man. But I can't help but keep coming back to one thought : Chris Evans walked away from Captain America to make this stuff instead?

^ Iím sure Evans is just happy that he doesnít have to spend 8 hours a day in the gym and eat 4000 calories a day anymore.

I think this looks like cute, harmless fun. Evans gets to play to goofy sidekick this time. Itís probably s nice change of pace for him.

I almost jumped ship when I saw that Evans would be a stalker-type-of-simp -- then the "turn" happens and it's like holy shit. I'm interested.

If you've ever been ghosted, it's easier to sympathize.

Sympathize with being a stalker for being stood up or never talked to again a hot woman? Sorry, no sympathy here. You sack up and move on. At first I thought this shit was going to be like that awful film "Waiting for Forever."

Kind of a different take on True Lies.. albeit stalkerish.

Was this ever supposed to be a theatrical release? Are any of these movies with big stars that premiere on streaming, are they just studios selling their movies that arenít good?

First review I saw for this said ďfor better examples of sexual chemistry see the entire cast of the Expendables or Arnold with his motorcycle in T2.Ē Lol

I'm trying to watch this right now and unless this romantic comedy trope stuff is being done intentionally to subvert expectations, I don't see myself finishing the movie. Johannsen was right to leave this movie, which is a shame because she's proven to have good chemistry with Evans. It's just not there with DeArmas. I think they got the wrong Chris for this one. I think Pratt could have made the character seem a little more relatable. I thought the cringey dialogue in the trailer was being tongue in cheek, but it appears they're trying to be serious.

These two had more chemistry in 7 or so minutes in Knives Out than they did for nearly 2 hours in this suck fest.

The tone (especially the music used) was all wrong in this movie. The cameos were the best part, they reminded me of the season premieres for Last Man on Earth.

But yeah, a much worse, gender swapped True Lies without the Cameron touch.

Scott Mendelson hated it. One of the worse films of the year.

AV Club also did not care for it. I might get around to watching this but it is not a priority. Also, the post a bit before this one about Arnold having more chemistry with his motorcycle in T2 has to be one of the funniest things I have read on the internet in quite some time.

I would say it was almost okay, but then the last 15 or so minutes sank any chances it had of being worth watching.

Did I miss the part where she asks him how he stalked her all the way to London?

Is this better or worse than Red Notice (including cast chemistry)?

I thought it was fun! Could have used a little more substance, and while cameos were fun they took you out of the film.
