Plus, how sexist is what she said about the Williams sisters not playing against men?
It's not sexist, to say they hadn't to play against men, it's just irrelevant. The Williams sisters just can't play against men, because they wouldn't be competitive. As a female director you may have a lot of obisticals to overcome, none of which is a being physically weaker.
When the sisters where 17 and 19 they played Karsten Braasch - who was ranked 201st - for fun. They didn't stand a chance and he was smoking between sets.
Jane Campion wanted to make a clever and funny remark, it didn't work, but her remark wasn't sexist, she just stated a fact

She apologized for the comment about the Williams sisters in any case.

Then why is she apologizing for it?

POTD would be a very unusual addition to a list of favorite guilty pleasure movies.

Sexist or not (I’m not saying it is or isn’t), at the very least it minimizes the Williams sisters’ hard earned accomplishments. It was a careless thing for Campion to say.

I don’t think she necessarily needs to apologize publicly but she should have at least reached out to the Williams sisters to apologize. I don’t understand the demand for public apologies when no one in the public was legitimately offended.

The praised the two during her speech, celebrates their accomplishments and like you explained, said something careless. But it has to be taken out of context, to be interpreted as sexist.

Sorry for the bump. Wasn't sure where else to put this.

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons Get Married

Beloved actors Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man, The Virgin Suicides) and Jesse Plemons (Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad) have tied the knot. The news was broken by Page Six on Friday, with sources telling the outlet that the pair got married at the GoldenEye resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica last weekend. Dunst and Plemons first met on the set of the FX series Fargo in 2015, and then began dating in 2016. They have reportedly been engaged since January of 2017, and have two children together — Ennis, who was born in 2018, and James Robert, who was born in 2021.

"I can just confirmed they got married," a rep for Dunst confirmed to the outlet. "No other details will be given."

He did call her his wife during a skit at the Oscars.

Never heard of that specific resort, looks nice and secluded.
