"Nested" films and shows- fictional movies in movies

https://nestflix.fun/

First time I've seen a website with .fun at the end- nice selection but it's missing Catholic High School Girls in Trouble, which I've always wanted to see a full-length version of.

Looks like they missed the Seinfeld movies, of which there are a lot:

Death Blow
Ponce DeLeon
Sack Lunch
Cry, Cry, Again
Prognosis Negative

I know it's awful. But I'd watch an episode of "Bitch Hunter" from 30 Rock. Funny or Die should do it sometime.

Agreed. First ones I thought of were Good Will Hunting 2 and all the Vincent Chase films from Entourage, all of which were there.

Logjammin' is in there. Swallow my Cockaccino is not.

They're also not airing the pilot episode of Fox Force Five, maybe because it wasn't made into a series.

I take it that complete movies inside of movies like Fistful of Yen and Sherlock Jr. don't count.

What about movies about making fictional movies, like The Old Mill from State and Main, Chubby Rain from Bowfinger, and O Brother Where Art Thou from Sullivan's Travels?

Does Machete get an honorable mention, because it was a fictional movie that was actually made a few years later?

There's also Chunnel and Chow Fun, plus a handful of others - https://uproxx.com/tv/all-the-fictio...infeld-ranked/.

A number of years ago, I had the tagline for Death Blow as my status message on Skype, at work. My manager advised me to change it so as not to offend anyone. Such a buzz kill.

Wow. 22 fictional movies within the Seinfeld universe. Forgot about a lot of them. Especially the ones when Kramer was MoviePhone. "Why don't you just tell me the name of the movie you want to see?"

Re: "Nested" films and shows- fictional movies in movies

Missing are all the films reviewed in Sneakin' in the Movies from Hollywood Shuffle. (I just attended a screening of this with Robert Townsend. This was my inspirational Clerks/El Mariachi DIY movie of that time. It came out in '87.)

  • Amadeus Meets Salieri
  • Chicago Jones
  • Dirty Larry
  • Attack of the Street Pimps

What about posters? Posters to movies that don't exist on the walls of a producer or director's office. Two and a Half Men has all kinds of fake posters in the movie theater scenes. Posters to the Roger Rabbit shorts that don't exist.

Re: "Nested" films and shows- fictional movies in movies

See You Next Wednesday may be one of the most famous fictional films of all time, having appeared in several John Landis movies.

There's also the marquee in Gremlins, which is showing a double feature of Watch the Skies and A Boy's Life, except those were
Spoiler:
the working titles of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T.

Re: "Nested" films and shows- fictional movies in movies

See You Next Wednesday was a movie title but also just a phrase sneaked into his other movies. I watched Beverly Hills Cop III several times just to find the words there but they seem to be missing from that movie.

Those Roger Rabbit shorts are on the site.

Re: "Nested" films and shows- fictional movies in movies

I enjoyed a different take on this theme... The UK series Moving Wallpaper was a fictional show about creating a soap opera (Echo Beach) that actually existed, though it only actually existed because they were co-created. So each week they would air the fictional show and then the actual show. It was well done!

Did you ever see the early 2000s series Grosse Pointe? Same idea, except the show-within-the-show was a teen soap opera ala Beverly Hills 90210. Only lasted one season but it was absolutely hilarious.

I didn't see it. Did they actually do the soap as a separate show? Maybe Moving Wallpaper/Echo Beach copied this idea and added that idea, as it was out around 2008.

Not quite. The most extensive showing of the show-within-the-show was the pilot episode, which begins with a 5 minute clip of the fictitious show that is overly melodramatic then we finally find out that it's not real.

Just ran across one not on the site. 1313 Devil's Lane a horror film from Manny Delgado on Modern Family (S09E20). They had a movie poster and shows some of the flick.

The submission page is down though.

I don't see Amazon Women On The Moon or Reckless Youth from the aforementioned Amazon Women On The Moon. Also, was A Fistful of Yen from Kentucky Fried Movie listed?
