I watched this not expecting much...in fact, expecting to watch a hour or so and catch up with the rest later - but it's a REALLY good movie with really good performances. Shame HBO/Warners is basically "tanking" all their movies this year with the silly "day and date" idea...but that said, I probably would not have went to see it in a theater, so I'm glad it was on HBO Max.

I watched this over the weekend and it's a good movie. Sure, it's oversimplified considering Richard did have another family. The supporting cast was great, too,

Bernthal was so good. It was nice to see him do something other than his typical tough-guy roles.

Very good movie with excellent performances. In fact I know the narrative is on Smith, but I think the 4 main roles were all deserving of nominations.

Just finished watching this tonight before it leaves HBO Max tomorrow. Wow, this was a damn good movie. Smith was solid. Bernthal was great as Macci and the two girls who played Venus and Serena were good as well.

As WSB said above, the story is a little simplified as Richard Williams had a complicated relationship with his "families" But, I think in the thick of it, he was a man who loved his girls and believed in them and the end result was that they became two of the biggest stars in tennis history.

Smith deserves a best actor nomination and I think Bernthal even deserves a supporting actor nomination as well. It was such a different role considering most of his stuff is typically tough guy roles.

I was never bored. It was very well edited and paced.

We liked it but I was annoyed with the timeline. Too simplified story of Richard Williams and the tennis stars as others have mentioned. But Smith was great and deserves an Oscar nomination for sure.

It was ok but I think Smitth exaggerated the real Richard WIlliams voice and made him sound like a simpleton and he does not sound like that in real life.

It took a while to not see Will Smith in that role and somebody from the UK will beat him if he does get nominated.

If he worked as a security guard could he have not pulled out his gun or pointed it towards the air and saved himself from those beatings in the hood?

I donít think there is any way in hell that Will Smith would have talked in that voice, and the Williams sisters would have allowed it if he didnít sound like that.

The Williams sisters were Executive Producers and they were on set. He wouldn't have done the portrayal justice to their father had they not been around. You're just making an assumption.

Take your pick out of the countless interviews on YouTube. He did talk like that. There's a southern drawl there. It was more pronounced when he was younger than in the more recent ones since he's up there in age now. He has a slower speech pattern nowadays.

Because he watches too many shitty movies that he doesn't know what is actually a good acting portrayal of someone.

If you think Will Smith is one of the greatest actors working today you are mistaken.

He is a movie star and not in the same class as Bale, Fassbender, Denzel etc.

I think this is the 1st film ive seen in a long time where Will Smith wasn't playing "Will Smith" in a role not "Will Smith". He was excellent in this film. I believed him as Mr. Williams.

I also loved the woman playing his wife. She was in "Lovecraft Country".

The soundtrack was not bad either and will probably download that Journey song.
