I am now extremely interested. Something about the mix of the setting and the subject seems so delightfully off kilter.

Definitely looks interesting. I'm just curious if it will be more like Get Out, which holds up on repeat viewings and when you really think about it, or Us, which kind of falls apart.

At least the trailer doesn't give much away - like, say, 99 percent of all other movie trailers. So thumbs up for that.

I think this looks fantastic.

It’s amazing how Jordan Peele has re-invented himself to go from silly sketch-show comedian to an excellent suspense/thriller director. Peele’s films have quickly become “must see” movies.

I agree. This is like when great comedians like Robin Williams crush it in dramas. If you're a talented performer and writer and care about getting a genre right, you can branch out like that. The skillsets work across the board.

I was a huge fan of Us but didn't care for get out at all. This looks really interesting.

Brilliant comediennes typically have a lot of darkness in their lives.

At first I thought it was this but a movie with maybe a darker subject matter than Nope

Indeed a good trailer. Let's hope the actual plot makes just a little more sense than the one in "Us".

I thought Us was actually a pretty interesting concept, but as the movie went on and we found out more about what was going on, the background and logistics of the "conspiracy" became ridiculous.

Us was so ridiculous that I was actually laughing by the end of it. I can't see Nope being that bad so I am looking forward to checking it out.

I agree. Jordan Peele's second film has a lot of interesting ideas, but fails in its delivery with some plot holes and cliched horror tropes.
The brilliance of Get Out was its slow burn sense of dread, which this film could have used.

Best part of Us was his mix of I Got 5 On It into a horror theme.

There are more horror films being made these days than arguably at any previous time in film history, and 99% of them are underwhelming or worse (yet, bafflingly, horror films are much more critically acclaimed than they used to be). Get Out, while not a masterwork in the final analysis, was a virtuosically directed homage to 1970s paranoia films. I did not like Us. This new one does not look very promising to me.
As far as top-5 modern-day horror directors, Peele probably belongs there for his talent, not yet fully realized. I think it would pay dividends if he turned more toward suspense than full-out blood-and-guts supernatural horror. My list would have to include Brad Anderson (possibly at #1) and Aneesh Chaganty. I am disappointed to learn that Chaganty is working on Searching 2 instead of an original project. Run was a rock-solid follow-up to Searching.

Well the second half of that trailer is totally different than what I was expecting, but props to Peele for definitely not repeating himself.

Oh and if you're already set on seeing this, that 3 minute trailer probably gave way too much away.

Very interesting. It looks like they're trolling the aliens. I wonder how on the nose it is about social media. Pretty sure it'll be a lot of fun.
