No work/school yesterday due to icy roads in DFW, so I followed the recommendation of a couple of my students and watched this. I liked it quite a bit. The animation was beautiful and the story and characters kept me interested. I'd watch this again when the mood strikes me.

I haven't really kept up with Disney and Pixar animated movies lately. I guess Toy Story 4 was the last one I saw.

Finally got around to this and was somewhat underwhelmed. It’s gorgeous looking and I liked the characters and some of the songs are definitely stuck in my head, but I felt like the story was sorely lacking and just kind of collapsed into a heap of bland self-empowering memes - which are fine, I applaud the message, but the execution itself left me a bit bored. There’s something a bit lacking plot-wise about a Disney movie that doesn’t even include a real villain, I guess.

I am probably totally not the target audience for this, I admit, but on the flip side I absolutely loved “Soul” the other year so maybe that just spoke to me personally more.

I just watched the Encanto Live at the Hollywood Bowl special on Disney+, really great. Would be fantastic to see this done with other Disney films.

Over the last year or so, this movie has become my kids’ favorite. We’ve watched the movie numerous times and have played the soundtrack for them over and over. I know most of the songs by heart at this point. They’re all still really good. Probably my flavored recent Disney movie.

I finally saw Encanto. I watched it twice last week. The songs are great, the color palette was beautiful, and I very much liked the lack of a villain. Everyone was doing what they thought was best, but some people were mistaken.

As for Mirabelle's Gift:
Spoiler:
Leadership. In ten years she'll be twenty five, and she'll be running the family.
