Well, she kinda is. Not to level of Captain America, but this whole movie centered around the super soldier serum vials (the red stuff, which apparently the antidote, which also is red and aerial and then no more Black Window hold, think lose powers too?) and Black Widow program that Natasha got out of. She took some type of it which gives her the super quick reflexes and fighting stuff, but not strength. I dunno I read about it somewhere, but that’s what the movie was, trying to get remaining vials and I guess destroy them. That was my gripe. We thought there was 1 serum that went to Steve, Dr. killed and no more. More comes with Winter Soldier/Hydra, the 5 or 6 others Nemo killed. Then there’s trying to make more and it just seems these serums are not infinite, unlike the infinity stones, which apparently are used as paper weights now or in that timeline or whatever. Blah. Rehashed and revamped. Marvel is better than this.

Re: Black Widow (2021, D: Shortland) -- S: Johansson, Pugh -- The Spoiler Review Thread

Just got back from a near full theatre.

Overall, I liked it. I gave it 4 stars. It was fun and had some pretty good action and thrills. Scarlett was good, but Florence Pugh was the highlight for me. She was awesome. They did a good job making this work as a prequel and then at the end segueing to Infinity War with Natasha sporting the blonde coloring in her hair.

at Yelena taking shots at Natasha's pose. I'm glad this movie was kind of self aware of that. But, there were some attempts at humor that I thought were a little cringy and forced.

The climatic sequence although extremely impossible was quite thrilling.

So I guess JLD is the new Nick Fury in post credit scenes. Nice little set up for Hawkeye this Fall.

I do wonder if Pugh will be in Hawkeye, and if so I assume it's just a cameo. She's too big a star to do a supporting role in a D+ series.

Pretty sure the writer is fully aware of that, though.
And also, they weren't popular in 2016, that's for damn sure. I mean, I had one, because I'm a masochist... but nah.
There was a time there where the Windows Phone & Surface product placement in movies/shows was obscenely common, though.

Spoliered in case people haven't seen some of the streaming shows.
Spoiler:
Seems she's like the Bizarro Fury. She's got her Captain America and Black Widow versions now setting up a sort of anti-Avengers? I wonder when she sets her sights on Agatha?

I'm not debating that... or against it. What I hate is changing everything to fit the status quo. Just create new char's and make them females or gay or whatever. I'm complaining because Taskmaster was a favorite character of mine. Not because they made him a female but totally changed his origin.

It's kind of f'ed up that Natasha was willing to blow up a kid in order to take down her target, but...

Spoiler:
Tony Montana wasn't

Tony Leung is about to be the third character called the Mandarin. Did they even name this character as The Taskmaster?

There will be a dude Taskmaster at some point. Calm your tits.

I’m betting that

Spoiler:

The Abomination

factors in after Shang Chi. And Justin Hammer would make a pretty good evil Tony Stark.

They said something like "activate the Taskmaster protocol".

Damn. In that case, perhaps Tony Masters created the protocol or something.

I enjoyed this a good deal, though it definitely felt out of place coming after Endgame until the post credit sequence.

I was doubting myself so I just went and checked - yep, one of the Widows calls in and asks for permission to activate the Taskmaster protocol.

Is she too big a star? There’s Little Women and... Midsommer? She’s gotten a lot of good attention, but is she a bigger “name” than Luke Wilson?

Dark Avengers vs Young Avengers seems to be ramping up.

It was announced in December she will be.

The upcoming “Hawkeye” series at Disney Plus has cast a number of key roles, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

Along with series leads Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon will all appear in the series.

You answered your own question by naming the wrong brother.

I don’t agree with the “too big” for XYZ thing though. Those days are long out the window.

Enjoyed it, but I think the wait hurt this one. I would put it in the bottom 1/3 of the MCU.

I realize most action sequences stretch believability, but the stuff in the this one just seems ridiculous. And the sloppy CGI doesn't help.

Re: Black Widow (2021, D: Shortland) -- S: Johansson, Pugh -- The Spoiler Review Thread

I saw this yesterday and enjoyed it overall. A bit overlong and talky at points, but not bad by any means. Pugh definitely stole the show and established herself as someone who can fill the Black Widow role in future movies (she got "over" to use a call back to her wrestling movie . Here are my two big takeaways from the movie:

1)This should have been shot and released as one of the movies between Infinity War and Endgame. Heck, let it take the place of Captain Marvel. Natasha had fans and didn't need to be forced on people as a key part of the story, which Carol Danvers proved not to be in the long run.

2)
Spoiler:
I think it's probably best that most MCU fans got introduced to Valentina through Falcon and Winter Soldier as opposed to this one. While the appearance of Julia Louise Dreyfus was a bit odd in the series at first , it at least gave us a bit of a notion that she was an off beat person. If her appearance in Black Widow had been the introduction, then she would just be seen as off putting and a stunt casting attempt at inappropriate humor.

Never read the comics so didn't have any preconceived ideas about Taskmaster. Could've been a robot for all I knew.
