Another Clooney 'Ocean's' Movie
Casino owners, beware!
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Ocean's Eleven, the ultimate movie star movie. The team of director Steven Soderbergh and A-list actors George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, and company would later reunite for two successful sequels, 2004's Ocean's Twelve and 2007's Ocean's Thirteen. In the decade-plus since the trilogy's final installment, costars Bernie Mac (2008) and Carl Reiner (2020) passed away, but Cheadle, who has worked six times with Soderbergh, tells EW that during filming of the duo's No Sudden Move (out Thursday on HBO Max), the filmmaker floated the idea of another Ocean's.
"We were talking about it, and then Bernie passed, and very quickly we were like, 'No, we don't want to do it,'" recalls Cheadle, who starred as British explosives expert Basher. "But I just did a movie with Stephen and he said, 'I think there may be a way to do it again. I'm thinking about it.' And it didn't go much further than that. But I don't know; I don't know who all would be in it. I imagine the main group of us would be in. It would be interesting to see."
The "main group" seemingly includes the remaining titular Ocean's crew from all three movies: Cheadle, Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Eddie Jemison, Shaobo Qin, and Elliott Gould. Qin and Gould reprised their roles in 2018's spin-off Ocean's 8, which was produced by Soderbergh and starred Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, and Anne Hathaway.
Cheadle will next be seen in Space Jam: A New Legacy (out July 16 in theaters and on HBO Max).

I'd love another one. And bring in Bullock, Blanchette, Awkwafina and Rihanna. I hated that they stated/implied that Danny was dead. I would be delighted to see him back. And let's be honest, George Clooney needs another glamorous star vehicle again.

It would be great to see Clooney and the group in another one but he doesn’t need anything after that tequila sale. He’s worth north of half a billion now. Being a star isn’t really his thing anymore.

On a totally related note, I didn't know Grizzly 2 actually came out.

Ocean’s 3 was decent enough that a part 4 would be welcome if they do it right. Though a part 4 isn’t really needed.
Part 2 was so shitty, I’m glad they made part 3 to get that shit taste out of our mouths.
While I didn’t love Ocean’s Eight, I think it could be fun to bring both teams together for final film.
I understand the cast and crew not wanting to make another one after Bernie Mac passed but it’s not exactly like he was the lynchpin holding the franchise together. Honestly, until I just read that quote, I forgot Mac was even in the Oceans movies.

I love Soderbergh and I love the Oceans movies, but I don't want another one, especially without Carl Reiner and Bernie Mac.

I enjoyed the Clooney ones as well as the Bullock one, It would be fun to see the two films have a proper cross-over movie.

I'm down for it. Yes, it sucks that a couple key actors have passed, but I still think they could do something great with this, including bringing in the Ocean's 8 cast. That one was fun.

re: Another Clooney 'Ocean's' Movie
The Oceans movie franchise has been slowly expanding with the female-centric film, Oceans 8, and a recently announced prequel movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. For a while now, it seems like the original cast starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and a murderer’s row of talent went out on a high note following 2007’s well-received Ocean’s 13.
Well, don’t count the old gang out yet.
In a new interview with Uproxx‘s Mike Ryan, Clooney heavily hinted that he might dust off his tux and saddle up next to Pitt and the boys for an all-new Ocean’s movie. But whatever you do, don’t call it Ocean’s 14. Clooney doesn’t like that name.
George Clooney: We have a really good script for another Oceans now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.
Wait, really? Like, Oceans 14?
George Clooney: Well … I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like Going In Style.
Oh really? The George Burns movie?
George Clooney: Yeah. George Burns and…
Art Carney I think? Is he in that?
George Clooney: Carney, yeah. We’re not quite that old.
Clooney also revealed a fun little fact about Danny Ocean. In Ocean’s 12, Julia Roberts‘ character Tess realize she looks like the actress Julia Roberts, which raises the question of what movie star does Danny think he look like.
“Honestly, that’s a very good question. Danny Ocean thought he looked like Brad Pitt in the Ocean universe,” Clooney told Ryan. “And that was really disappointing when someone told him he looked like me.”

Loved Ocean's 11, detested Ocean's 12, and never saw Ocean's 13. Ocean's 8 had a great cast saddled with a ho-hum movie. I'd like the O8 crew to return in a more deserving picture. If they can cross them over and recapture the magic of O11, all the better.

Re: Another Clooney 'Ocean's' Movie
EXCLUSIVE: This is a bit early, but The Dish hears momentum is building on the Smokehouse-produced next installment of the Warner Bros caper film franchise that started with Ocean’s Eleven. Sources said that George Clooney and Brad Pitt are coming back, and they are courting Edward Berger to take over directing duties.
Berger is emerging as an elite filmmaker. He followed All Quiet on the Western Front — which it won four Oscars including Best International Feature — with Conclave, the Focus Features drama about the intrigue behind the election of a new pope that has drawn raves after its Telluride debut, establishing the film as a Best Picture Oscar candidate with Berger and Ralph Fiennes also at the center of the awards race. The film gets its next shot with a Toronto Film Festival premiere. Fiennes stars alongside Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Isabella Rossellini and a strong supporting cast.
Warner Bros and Smokehouse have been working diligently on Ocean’s 14, which would be the first without director Steven Soderbergh. While promoting Boys on the Boat, Clooney said they had a strong script that was in the spirit of Going in Style. While insiders have said it’s early and Berger doesn’t even have an offer (he’s juggling several of them), I am persuaded this one has some teeth. And I would expect for The Instigators co-stars Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and the rest of the ensemble would be back in the fold.

love these heist movies even the one with Sandara Bullock, just wish they had done more to tie that one in with the Clooney ones aside for the mausoleum scene

Although far from the worst movie in the franchise (that dishonor goes to Ocean's 12), I was disappointed with Ocean's 8. It had a great cast but was only a so-so movie. I wouldn't mind a second go around that would do that particular cast justice.
