Alright, I decided to get this thread going. This opens Thursday night and reviews are out and the vast majority of early reviews are positive or say this is even better than the 1st movie.
I know some of you still have trepidations of going to the movies, so it's entirely up to you if you want to watch this now or not.
It will be available on Paramount Plus sometime in mid to late July.
If you don't subscribe to Paramount Plus and have no interest or plans to go to the theatre, you will likely have to wait 3 months for it to hit $20 VOD
I already have my ticket booked for Thursday night in Dolby.

Bump. Opens tonight. I'll be seeing it at 7pm PT. Will any of you be seeing it this weekend?
When I bought this ticket I didn't realize it was on the same night as game 3 of the Lakers/Suns playoff game, but I want really want to see this movie, so I'll sacrifice 1 game.

I can’t wait to see this in 45 days!!! Plenty of time to watch first again. Only saw once in theaters and it was great.

Krasinski said that Jeff Nichols will take over and direct the third one. WTF? The second one is quite tense and entertaining, by the way.

Just got back from it. Loved it. Probably just as good if not better than the 1st movie. Some great tension and the monsters were just as scary as the 1st movie. My heart was racing throughout the movie. It literally takes place right after the 1st movie.
The scene where Marcus got his foot trapped in the bear trap and was screaming in pain with the monsters fast approaching was so effective. I felt that pain too seeing it.
And while the trailer showed some of the footage, I thought the "Day 1" flashback was a very well done sequence that set up everything. I had forgotten the Abbotts had a younger son who was killed in the 1st movie.
Krasinski did a great job overall. If you can I absolutely recommend seeing this in the theatre. There is a 2 minute introduction with John Krasinski at the beginning thanking you for seeing it on the big screen and saying this movie was meant to be seen this way.
With the way it ended, I think there is room for a possible third movie. It was very open ended.

Yeah, just got back and it was awesome. My only superficial gripe is that Emily Blunt has gorgeous hair from Day 1 - Day 474. No way in hell. Give it a week in the real world that gorgeous do would be all matted/dreadlocked and smell like shit.
The movie does end on an abrupt beat, which means they have another film on the way and I will be there.

Krasinski in the Q&A I saw tonight after the film said there will be a 3rd film and it will be taken over and made by Jeff Nichols. The Q&A was moderated by JJ Abrams and was live streamed to our theater about 20 minutes after our showing ended. I hope Nichols knows what he is doing and can wrap up the series properly.

Jeff Nichols, the writer and director of Mud?

That's an interesting choice.

A Quiet Place Part 2 made an estimated $4.8M last night.
You put the right product out, people will go see it. The auditorium I saw it last night was about 90 maximum capacity (full is 180) and I was say it was pretty close to that.

It's basically on par with the original's Thursday night screenings made.

I’m fully vaxxed, do not believe I’m throwing caution to the wind, but glad we are slowly getting back to normal bit by bit.
A good follow up with a very quick pace. Did enjoy the flashback to Day 1.
Now that we see these things arrived and instantly began tearing up their town, just how in the hell were loud newspaper factories and paper distribution systems still up and running? 🤷♂️
Gotta figure there is/was still military presence with any out to sea ships. Unless none of them communicated with each other and all docked back for some stupid reason. Lol

You may not believe you’re not being risky still, but science proves otherwise.

Where does it say they are low risk? I know CDC says no masks inside or out in non-crowded areas, i guess some stores now did away with policy, but I heard nothing about theaters. Even still, no, right now. I don’t even feel comfortable when someone is not wearing mask in store. If the theater didn’t renovate their air system which having no money I sincerely doubt they did it’s gonna be same recycled air. Just like planes. Horrible. I’m perfectly fine waiting a month and a half for a new release movie.

Alright can we please stick to talking about the movie for those who saw it than expressing your health concerns. If you are not ready to visit a theater that's fine. No one is forcing or pressuring you to go. It's ultimately your choice.
I know its hard to avoid discussions of this movie because it's so highly anticipated.

Let's keep this discussion tied to the movie itself and less on "if going to movie theaters" are safe (or not) - thanks.
Oh and the Dolby Atmos mix is a stunner but that's to be expected.

Really enjoyed it. So tense and well crafted. Those parallel scenes were wrecking me. And so nice being in a crowded theater for an event movie.

What a time to be alive for Krasinski. Two fantastic, financially successful, directorial efforts. Married to one of the most beautiful and nicest women in Hollywood. Stars on a high profile show for a streamer. Sells the fun and silly YouTube news show he created during quarantine for big money. Rolling in residuals from The Office. No wonder he looks so damn happy in those "back to the theatre" promos.
