It seems there was a spate of delays for the Mouse. Is there any word if this is production delays due to COVID or something else?

“The major release date shuffle comes after Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” cemented its place as a pandemic-era box office hit and ahead of “Eternals,” the MCU entry that is scheduled for Nov. 5. The scheduling overhaul is related to production and not box office returns, according to sources at Disney. The next “Black Panther” entry, for one, is still filming in Atlanta. Since Marvel has become an interconnected and meticulously planned universe — which spans dozens of film and several new television series — any production delay causes a domino effect on the rest of the franchise“

Marvel Studios productions “The Marvels” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” are swapping release dates, Disney announced Friday.
“The Marvels,” the sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” was originally due to open in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023, and “Quantumania,” the third movie in the “Ant-Man” series, was set to open on July 28, 2023.
Instead, “Quantumania” will now bow first in February, and “The Marvels” will debut in July.
Insiders say this was a matter of “Quantumania” simply being further along in its creative process than “The Marvels,” as the former has wrapped principal photography while “The Marvels” still has a bit more to go. Marvel Studios’ other big theatrical release in 2023, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” is still set to debut on May 5, 2023.
The release date shuffling is likely to raise eyebrows among hardcore observers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it suggests that the 2023 feature projects aren’t as closely linked as previous MCU movies.
“Quantumania” is expected to continue the multiverse storyline launched with the 2021 Disney+ series “Loki,” which featured Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, whose death creates the multiverse in the MCU. In “Quantumania,” Majors will play the main villain and a variant of his “Loki” character, Kang the Conqueror. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are all returning for “Quantumania,” along with director Peyton Reed.
“The Marvels” is set to tie-in with two Disney+ shows: 2021’s “WandaVision,” which introduced Teyonah Parris as the adult Monica Rambeau, and this June’s “Ms. Marvel,” which will introduce Iman Vellani as Captain Marvel superfan Kamala Khan. Brie Larson is reprising her role as Captain Marvel (aka Carol Danvers), with Nia DaCosta (“Candyman”) taking on directing duties.
Ironically, “Quantumania” was originally set to open in February 2023. But in October, it was bumped when Disney pushed back Marvel’s entire 2022 theatrical slate to give more time for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” to complete filming and post-production, and to accommodate production delays on “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” following an injury to star Letitia Wright. “Doctor Strange 2” is now the next MCU title set to debut; it will open in theaters on May 6.

July 2023 to May 2024 would’ve been too big of a gap. Seemed inevitable once they pushed Blade.

Yeah, I just watched this on another site and the trailer had me smiling throughout. I think I will hit the theater for this film, as it does look like a lot of fun.

Yeah that looks really fun and I like the direct tie-in to Ms. Marvel.
Probably a good idea that this was pushed to Fall. With Guardians and Secret Invasion (6 hours) this summer, it was probably a good idea to leave a little breathing room and give Marvel fans a break and not get fried with too much.

Love the trailer, but I have loved a lot of Marvel trailers recently and then been disappointed by the film, so I will try to remain cautiously optimistic.

I dunno, it looks okay. Seems like fairly typical MCU fare. Not too excited but it also doesn’t look awful.

Missed opportunity to use "Girls" by the Beastie Boys instead.

The movie looks fun; however, the production value makes it look like it was shot for Disney + as opposed to being a big-budget feature. It looks "cheap" to me.

I'm getting this from a lot of Marvel stuff lately and I'm trying to figure out why. I looked at the cinematographer on this and he's done almost all very grounded, arty dramas, so I'm wondering if he just wasn't the right guy for a cosmic adventure? Is it the color grading issue again, like what was happening in phases 2/3? Just the effects not being finished?

I have thought that the MCU movies always looked "cheap," almost like they were tv productions. Overlit like a Lifetime movie. The sets look kind of cheap, more like they're tv pilots than tentpole franchise films. And then there's the weird issue where the films are filled with bright primary colors, but also look washed-out and they blow everything out to where there isn't any black in the image.
Whereas the DC films --- whether they're the "DCEU" movies like Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, or Justice League (both versions), or the "Elseworlds" stuff like Joker and The Batman -- look like actual movies.
There's just a "quality" to them that reeks of low budgets and fast productions -- and that's especially true of the Disney+ series, especially Ms Marvel and She-Hulk. The same could also be said for the Star Wars series like Book of Boba Fett, Kenobi, and The Mandalorian. Sort of like how so many Netflix series seem to have a "house style."
