Anthony Mackie is one of the best actors out there. He's going to be great.

This is not a Multiverse alternate version of Captain America. This is Sam Wilson, who was Steve Rogers good friend and The Falcon. Steve passed the shield off to him. In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he trained to become the new Captain America.

Forgive my ignorance since I’m not up to date on the comics and didn’t finish Falcon and the Winter Soldier but did Sam end up taking the Super Soldier serum? He doesn’t really have any super capabilities does he?

No, after the disastrous experiment with the other Captain America that was hired by the Government and turned out to be a psychopath, Sam trained and eventually got a new suit from the Wakandans. He's basically relying on his abilities, the shield and suit.

^ Gotcha. Thanks. I didn’t realize he got a Wakandan suit. That makes sense.

I imagine it'll team him up with Bucky again and maybe pass on the shield to Bucky? So they can have the 'who's worthy to wield the shield' thing going.

I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about the post-Endgame Marvel universe, and I do know that Sam was Steve's friend, and I seem to remember Steve passing the shield on to Sam. My post was incorrect on so many levels and I apologize for the misinformation. I just don't have much interest in a post Endgame cinematic universe. I guess I just got burned out on the whole superhero movie trend. I truly enjoyed all the movies that led up to (and including) Endgame, maybe one of these days I'll try out some of the newer stuff.

re: Captain America: Brave New World (2025, D: Onah) -- S: Anthony Mackie

To be brutally honest, I'm not a fan of superhero identities being passed off to new characters when the actors who play them leave the role.

I'm of the mind that Spiderman IS Peter Parker. Captain America IS Steve Rogers. Tony Stark IS Iron Man. Thor IS Thor. Some characters, like Black Panther or Green Lantern, are mantles that new people can resume, but on the whole, when actors leave, I'd rather the characters just be recast.

Watching Jensen Ackles play Soldier Boy on The Boys, I think he would have made a damned fine Steve Rogers and could have easily stepped into Chris Evans' shoes.

white, black, asian, green, Thanos purple, don't care, but Captain America should have super powers, not just be a glorified version of Iron Man. A subpar one (in regards to protection and firepower) at that. was hoping Wilson was given the super soldier serum in FatWS. meh.

Maybe he'll get the serum in the course of the movie.

I'd rather watch a Cap film withIsaiah Bradley, especially if they get Carl Lumby back and maybe Edwin Hodge to play a younger version. Seeing him going up against Bucky would be pretty damn interesting.

This is where things will start going south and the genre will start to fail. There is no need for another. Schlock is what it will be.

That’s sort of my opinion as well, which is why I asked in my earlier post. But when it comes down to it, I don’t know if it really matters. These movies have always been inconsistent with the strength/amount of damage these characters take. Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Falcon have always fought right alongside the others and never took any worse hits than the others.

If Sam is wearing a Wakandan suit, he’ll be just as invincible as Black Panther or Iron Man anyway.

I suppose, and unless the super soldier serum is forced on him somehow, I doubt Disney wants to promote drug use as the way to becoming a better person.

I’ve liked them all so far, I’m looking forward to see what Mackie does with this.

I'm cautiously optimistic about it. The thing is that it's the same writer of the TV series who is writing this. Not the guys who wrote Civil War and Winter Soldier.

I was going to say I'd be so much more excited for this if we hadn't gotten the "mini series", now you're telling me the same writer's involved! It was so clearly meant to be passed to Sam from Endgame, we didn't need the D+ garbage at all. Hope the movie kicks ass, but it's gonna be an uphill battle to win me over.
