Chris Evans wasn't that big a name or talent before Captain America either.

And Mackie did a damn good job on the show when he first became Captain America. He can easily carry the film and has been in the franchise for quite a long time.

I think an Evans appearance is a must(as young and old cap), make this more of a Captain America legacy film, we could even get some Bradley flashbacks. As long as this is an MCU ensemble film with some important developments, I think it can work. (and Sam needs to take some super soldier serum!)

I wonder how many concurrent movie franchises the MCU can support. I think they're currently at 3-4 movies per year now, and they still have the FF and X-Men waiting in the wings.

If they're doing four movies per year now, that's probably twelve if they want to have a movie in each one every three years. Which is really quite a few balls to be juggling in the air at once.

Yeah, they have all of the D+ shows, but those aren't quite on the same scale as the movies. They'll probably want to have at least one new episode of a MCU show on D+ every week going forward, probably eight-to-ten seasons per year. That's doable.

But movies are a different matter, where they need to be scheduled for release, and take things into consideration like holidays, competition, and how many people go to see them. Not to mention the bigger budgets and marketing costs. Could they pull off six films a year? Or even one a month?

Well they’ve masterfully done it very well as of now. And I like the fact that the D+ shows aren’t on the same level as the movies. It gives them creative room to give us these smaller scale stories that couldn’t ordinarily be in movies without bogging it down. Same level of effects and scale when needed, but mostly used to further a story.

Mackie is the worst part of this. Falcon is a bore and I'd expect this new Captain America to also be a bore.

On a podcast I was listening to, they mentioned that maybe Captain Carter from What If might team up with Mackie's Captain America in the new multiverse. I thought that was an interesting possibility.

Agreed.
Iíll also continue beating that dead horse and say Captain America should be a super soldier.

I mean, we were at 3 a year pre-covid. So I'm okay with it.

But I also thought Endgame was going to peak my excitement with the MCU, but WandaVision, Loki and the 2 upcoming trailers have my attention

I havenít watched any of the What IfÖ? episodes so Iím not sure how this particular what ifÖ plays out but as cool as it would be to see Captain Carter fight along side Mackieís Cap, it would be a sad missed opportunity to never have her fight along side Chris Evansí Cap.

He’s cheap. Hell, when the Russo Bros were hired to direct Captain America The Winter Soldier, they were unknown.

I just don't like Mackie. I don't even like the design of his Captain America suit.

Yea, that’s the one the announced during a Super Bowl and then it was available on Netflix. Wasn’t very good.

He directed the film Luce too. Great stuff, worth checking out. That is on Hulu.

Holy shit. I even posted in that thread!

I have absolutely no recollection of that thread or the movie! I feel like my mind was wiped of the entire memory.

Not interested in a Captain America that is anyone but Chris Evans. He WAS Captain America. Why do they have to keep flogging these superhero movies with multiverse characters? I think they played out just with the original Cinematic Universe that ended with Endgame. Any more than that is just not interesting enough to me to drag me back to the movies.

Makes me cautiously very optimistic. I'm super interested in an African immigrant's take on a Black Captain America. On the other hand, his filmography is pretty bland and he may not have the cache to do anything interesting.
