And they waited until a month out from release to drop the trailer. I think they are trying to avoid a bunch of fat shaming social media outrage if they showed footage of Fraser in the fat suit.

I mean they're gonna have to deal with it eventually, right? This isn't like Sonic the Hedgehog, they can't fix it.

The Polygon review makes this a hard pass from me, even though Aranofsky is usually worth a look even if his output is uneven.
But this just sounds depressing and nasty in a 'punching down' kind of way.

I'm definitely not seeing this in a theater. I can already see a bunch of idiots laughing throughout. Obviously unintentionally

I can tell from the trailer that I want Fraser to win the Oscar, but I won't be seeing the movie. Aronofsky's stuff isn't what I look for in a theatrical experience anymore. May stream when it hits one of the providers.

Really curious what type of people would intentionally sit through this?
Who wants to look at that? And why?
It’s nice that Fraser is back, but I’m so sick of these gimmick Oscar’s.

I’m not quite sure about the obesity controversy. I’m a fat guy. But the movie is about a sad man purposely eating himself to death because of the loss of his partner. Not exactly the average story of a fat person. The Klumps is a truer portrayal than this.

I saw it today. Yea... a lot of this was hard to watch. It's pretty sad. I think Fraser's performance transcends the suit. If he wins the Oscar, no argument from me. Hong Chau continues to be a force in everything I see her in. Sadie Sink was really great too. I'll look forward to seeing what else she does outside of Stranger Things. Ty Simpkins and Samantha Morton put in great work as well.

I knew a guy who ballooned to 300+ pounds after a divorce. I didn't want to interact with him and I don't want to see this movie although I like Brendon Fraser. Darren Aronofsky doesn't make movies that are easy to watch so I'll give this a pass.

As someone who used to be over 300 pounds and lost the weight 4 years ago this was tough to watch. My biggest reason for trying to get healthy was I wanted to be around me for my wife and daughter. The movie was well done did not realize it was originally a play.

I saw this over the weekend. I thought Fraser was brilliant. It was a terribly sad but also uplifting/hopeful movie. Some really difficult scenes to watch.

I thought this was very good with a couple of reservations. The interaction between all the characters is interesting, the stories are all satisfying. The main thing that hindered the movie for me was the unnecessary musical score. Almost ever scene lays on the music. Here's a poignant moment so lets have graceful music. Oh, this person is getting angry, better have the music get really bombastic and dramatic. It was way too much, and so literal. It was like if you were watching A Fish Called Wanda and the filmmakers decided to include a laugh track.
