Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

Before she walked away, legendary Breaking Bad director Michelle McLaren was going to direct WW. I would love it if they reached back out to her. I think she is a hell of a director and would love to see what her vision of the character is.

Looks like Gadot will be part of the DCU

While certainly WW84 wasn't good, Gadot has been great in the role, so she is one in the old DCEU to keep around.

Just to show that this isn’t some made up click bait. Gadot revealed this actually 2 months ago before the strike during the Heart of Stone press tour. Here is the sound bite.

I think she’s fine in the role but what happened to a fresh start with the DCU? Are we back to picking and choosing what we like and don’t like from the DCEU? If so that’s bound to send mixed messaging and will trip up the DCU even further.

I mean, it was already announced some time ago that Viola Davis was continuing as Waller, so this is kind of what they've been doing all along.

Happy she stays, but how many times can they say fuck you to Henry Cavill?

Fair point. I would say though that Amanda Waller is at least a fairly minor character to this point though whereas Wonder Woman is a main hero/character.

I’ve heard some saying that Cena shouldn’t return as Peacemaker since it also is technically a part of the DCEU and The Suicide Squad isn’t canon as the DCU starts with Superman: Legacy.

Honestly it’s a giant cluster fuck even for someone who understands what’s going on.

Yeah the whole thing is a mess. I love what Gunn did with Guardians and Peacemaker and enjoyed The Suicide Squad well enough but I'm not sure his overarching plan is on the right course. Wait and see I guess.

1) Peacemaker is great and Cena is great in the role, so he should stay.
2) Peacemaker shouldn't be involved in any JLA-level activity, so that would go a long way toward minimizing any audience "confusion" over DCEU versus DCU.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

It's very true to the way DC comics does their resets as well ie: Batman and Green Lantern in New 52, picking and choosing in Crisis on Infinite Earths (which really screwed up the New Teen Titans and Legion of Superheroes because of what they did to Batman and Superman)... basically if it's working, fudge it into the new continuity and then make excuses later.

Even if Aquaman completely bombs I'd think they'd want Mamoa back too, right?

Probably too old now, but I'd like to see Armie Hammer as Aquaman.

I don't think age is Hammer's issue at this time.

I knew there was some issue with him being blacklisted but had never looked into it. Just did and yeah, guess that isn't happening lol.

Well, the message is that she's good in the role and audiences like her in the role, and her Gadot's WW is likely the only thing about the DCU that really worked.

Right now, the mission for Gunn and the DCU is to produce movies that people like. They have found the cap on how much money these movies will make just because some people will pay to see them no matter what. The movies make a billion dollars when the general public knows that the movies are actually good and entertaining.

Consistent messaging about what the DCU "means" is not what makes the difference between $300 million and $900 million at the box office.

Worth noting that was recorded in June... I'd like to see her return, but I wouldn't take the statement as concrete. I mean... Zachary Levi was out there with thoughts that he's coming back too.

I mean I thought Cavill was good in the role and that audiences liked him in the role, but obviously they had other plans for Superman. Seems like Gunn just doesn't have a reboot of WW in mind.

I feel like Henry Cavill is like "fetch." He's so good looking that the industry keeps trying to make him happen as a Movie Star. I've never seen him in anything where I did not think he was as boring as beige wallpaper. But I have never seen The Tudors or Witcher TV shows.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

It's not like Gadot is some incredible method actress either...

In any case, I thought for the most part the casting in the "old" DC cinematic universe was the best part of it and I wouldn't mind them continuing on with a lot of them, including Levi.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

Regarding Gadot- I like her well enough but I don’t think she’s irreplaceable as Wonder Woman. Some people act as though she’s so definitive. She’s only the second live action actress to portray the character.

Incorrect. Third actually. Cathy Lee Crosby played her in a Pilot movie, then Carter and now Gadot.

But, people love Gadot as WW. She’s incredibly popular worldwide.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

Gadot as Wonder Women is the best thing the DCEU did and, IMHO, the only thing worth saving (though I do like Momoa as Aquaman too).

I'm not worried about audience confusion between the DCEU and DCU - only nerds like us pay attention to those things.

Exactly. The dude was an average Superman with sub-average scripts. He is far from the best Superman and honestly the worst in my opinion (though I know I am likely in the minority on that one) but I would rather them bring back Kirk Alyn from the dead and play him over Cavill again. Cavill had his time and he and his movies sucked.

He possessed zero charisma in the role and had zero chemistry with Lois and the other superheroes & villains he played against. Yeah...he was good looking and had muscles. Whoopie shit. Let's move on. Jesus...how many people have played Batman by now? Certainly people can move on from Cavill and live at this point.

I saw someone posted above asking how many times can they say "fuck you" to Cavill? As many times as necessary.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

Gunn made it clear that the new batch of DC movies would include "elseworlds" films that were not part of his new universe. He could just file WW3 under that, if needed.
