This is the main reason that Star Wars under Disney has been such a clusterfuck. And, interestingly enough, Jenkins is even a part of that equation.

She was but not anymore. Didn't she try to cross Kevin Fiege and theY canceled her Marvel project and then her Star Wars project was also canceled. She's nailed the trifecta now with WW3.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

I think the original Wonder Woman's massive success and her pseudo rise to being an "A-list" director really inflated Jenkins ego. Before getting hired to do the original WW, she had not directed a movie since Monster. She was a TV director for hire.

Now from these reports it sounds like she's being really difficult to work with and I guess WW84 showed that she's not really that talented of a writer. Keep in mind, WW84 was greenlit under the previous WB regime.

Such a stupid move from the studio, there are only a handful of directors you give free reign to....and directing one successful movie doesn't give you that credibility.

Well, at least now Jenkins has time do her Star Wars movie. Or is she still doing Cleopatra with Gadot next?

Quality aside, we were 6 months into the pandemic and nobody was going to the theater. It's a big budget superhero flick and in a normal year it would have done better... at least the first weekend. It probably still would have sank like a rock but a big opening weekends help push sequels.

That's an old studio trick, announcing sequels the week after an underperforming movie - and it happened here! Even with the air quote pandemic reasons, the film was a colossal failure and embarrassment.

Warner Bros Didn’t Cancel ‘Wonder Woman 3,’ Patty Jenkins Walked Off the Project (Exclusive)

It was Jenkins that shook the spot.

Interesting.

Further reports state she left "after her ideas for the film were met with skepticism, then sending an email to WB co-CEO Michael De Luca that ended with a link to the Wikipedia definition of "character arc."

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

Whats with that line- “ a FILMMAKER like Gunn” blah blah “ An ESTABLISHED filmmaker like Jenkins”

Nice fucking spin.

Theres no mansplaining going on. The person who runs the show , gave her an opportunity to fix her shitty work. She thinks her shit dont stink and left. Someone should have told her this when she was working on 84.

So men in charge are supposed to let women run wild?

Maybe the wiki story arc thing is all about her. Gonna burn so many bridges, disappear, then come back in 10 years and burn more.

The idea that Jenkins knows "character arc" better than Gunn is laughable.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

According to those in the know, it was Patty Jenkins who walked away after receiving notes on the treatment she submitted to the studio.
Who the fuck are "those in the know"? Studio Janitors? Cafeteria Workers? Mail Room Staff?

Until I see Gunn say, "Yes patty walked off..." I don't believe any of these articles.

The trades always have inside sources in the studios and networks who give leaks and scoops. We simply don't know who they are. That's why they're protected by the trades from losing their jobs for giving this out.

THR is not some idiot on YouTube or Blogger. It's a reputable Hollywood trade. But, Gunn did say in his tweet that some of the stuff written wasn't true or wasn't decided. They do get it wrong sometimes, but not always.

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

Maybe Jenkins could write and direct the first ever action film with a female lead and get Jennifer Lawrence to star?

It's the complaint many have had with Marvel, including the whole "cookie cutter" thing and major directors leaving projects for lack of freedom, so I guess the regime change might mean copying the Marvel model closer. We'll see, again, if it gets me a Legion of Super Heroes movie eventually I'm all for it.

Well, I'm glad she chose to respond. The "reports" were really making her look bad. But, I think she needs to step away from Wonder Woman and let Gunn pick a new director and writer if they choose to go forward with it in the future. Whether that includes Gal Gadot, who knows?

You usually don't see these kinds of wall of text responses... I don't think it makes her and her team look any better.

Like i said...right now i dont believe any DC Movie stories until Gunn confirms or denies. Glad he at least seemingly co-signed her response so now all the ridiculous fanboys can shut the fuck up about "what they heard she said/did"

Re: Wonder Woman 3 - S: Gal Gadot

I would like Jenkins to stay as director. Just not as writer. It's the same way I feel about John Krasinski and the A Quiet Place franchise. Some directors are great at shaping a film and picking a theme, just not at the actual writing of the screenplay.
