I've liked all of the core franchise for the most part, the AvP movies much less so. The premise and the picture for this one looks pretty cool.

For some reason I was thinking it would take place somewhere else. I do like the fact that this will be set in the past quite a ways though.

I guess it's gonna take place around the time of that old gun one of the Predators gave Danny Glover in Predator 2.

Re: Prey (2022, D: Trachtenberg) -- Predator prequel

Prey is coming to Hulu August 5

“Prey,” an all-new action-thriller from 20th Century Studios directed by Dan Trachtenberg (“The Boys,” “10 Cloverfield Lane”) and the newest entry in the “Predator” franchise, will stream August 5, 2022, exclusively on Hulu.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

“Prey” is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (“Jack Ryan,” “Treadstone”), and produced by John Davis (“Jungle Cruise,” “The Predator”) and Jhane Myers (“Monsters of God”), with Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Marty Ewing (“It: Chapter Two”), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (“Fantasy Island”) serving as executive producers.

The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. Myers, an acclaimed filmmaker, Sundance Fellow and member of the Comanche nation herself, is known for her attention and dedication to films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations and her passion for honoring the legacies of the Native communities. As a result, the film features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent, including Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”), newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”), Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”).

I'm interested. They've shown this in the comics, so it's about time they highlight it in the films.

This is the level of silly they should just put this on Lifetime. Good move bypassing the theater for this, they’d only lose more money.

Without looking it up, I have no idea how many in the series. I've only seen 2 or 3 Predator movies outside of the original. So I'll give this one a shot.

This is what I want from a Predator movie. Stop with the lore, stop trying to recreate the first one. Go to different civilizations throughout time and throw in the predator.

Wow, that was brief teaser, but I was already planning to watch when I had learned that Amber Midthunder would be in the film, and oh yeah, she is fighting a Predator. I just hope that the pacing of the film is good and it is not just 5 minutes of Predator action, and 100 minutes of a film that is a grind to get through. I am cautiously optimistic.

I like the setting... and if this does well I'd love to see other time periods.... civil war era, medieval, WWI, etc...

Dang.

If they make another Friday the 13th movie they could just name it "Friday the 13th, the 13th."

I'm down for this. I'm wondering if they'll take a chance and go all subtitles on this one.

If so, that could lead into an AVP film with just Aliens and Predators wreaking havoc and no humans.

Huh? What the heck do you mean Lifetime? An Alien science fiction movie would never on that network.

Unless you were just spitballing that it looks like something of lower quality.

Yeah, I think E Unit took a slip in the breakfast nook.

Didnít realize this was coming to Hulu. Hope that doesnít mean theyíre just throwing it on there because they donít have a lot of faith in it.

That being said though from the brief clip it looks good and I like the setting. Agreed about it being an interesting change to the franchise.

It means Disney is using 20th Century and Searchlight for Hulu content. At least 10 films per year.

Still though. Not to say streaming films are always bad, but often when I see them I tend to think they may not be great. Especially in a case like this where the film is part of a struggling film franchise.

Yeah, while I LOVE the Lore and the Franchise, I'm open to them trying new stuff. This looks very interesting. In fact, I've always wanted to see Predators in different times on earth.
