I'm always amazed at people on forums like this who recognize an actor from a bit part they played on a BBC sitcom 15 years ago, and I'm just like, heh funny accent man.

I really enjoyed this. I think it’s a get it and accept it or don’t get it. I got it and it was a fun ride. Leo was the best for me. Great emotion and giving in to absurdity. Really good. Surprised at the critical ravage.

It was good and Hollywood filled their quote of releasing two comedies every year with this one

I had low expectations after the Oscar backlash, but I thought it was pretty decent. Overlong for sure, and I consider it a satire rather than a comedy because it was pretty depressing and frustrating. I agree that Jonah Hill felt most like Don Jr but with a splash of Ivanka for the Oedipal stuff and Jared for the role in the administration.

But did the backlash start though after it's Oscar nomination? It was savaged by critics and audiences way before that. Not everyone, but definitely split down the middle. Getting nominated for Best Picture was just a joke at that point.

Watched this again yesterday with some folks who had not seen it and it was even better than when I watched it alone when it premiered a couple of months ago. The Jennifer Lawrence rant about paying for free snacks through the course of the film is still hilarious. It reminds me of the scene(s) in Mallrats where Brody (Jason Lee) keeps complaining about the kid sitting on the escalator again.

I’m still not sure what that gag is supposed to be about, unless it’s a general commentary on wasteful spending by the military.
But it was funny seeing J Law going on and on about it.
