What was the last movie you saw in theaters before Covid?

Pretty sure it was IT: Chapter Two. When Covid really started ramping up, there had been a few movies I was interested in catching at the theater, but it obviously never happened.

Solo: A Star Wars Story
...and it might be the last movie I ever see in a theater.

I'm aware of the timeline of Covid. I hadn't been to the movies for a while prior to that. The timing never really worked out for me, and there wasn't much interest in any movies that were out. I'd intended to see The Invisible Man shortly after it was released, but shit hit the fan and it wasn't meant to be.

1917 with my wife. My son and I saw Sonic the Hedgehog the night before, which is the last one he has been to see.

I have often wondered these last six months what would have happened if pandemic concerns set in a week before a movie like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker or Avengers: Endgame was due for release. I think that would have been very hard for people to handle.
Yeah, there are great movies we were all looking forward to this year like Tenet, Top Gun: Maverick, and No Time to Die, but I think these are peanuts compared to what I mentioned, in terms of how may people shiver with anticip--

The Way Back
I had a seat reserved to see the Hunt the day that the theaters closed.

"The Gentlemen". And I was supposed to go see "The Invisible Man" in it's second or third weekend (I can't remember). But my friend started getting freaked out about going to a movie theater because shit started getting real, and fast. And all cinemas closed that same week. It was all so surreal.

Rise of Skywalker for me too. I saw it opening day, but then my kids and I got very sick over the holidays. I finally took them to see it in late January. And the only other people in the theater were a kid and his dad.
We also all went to Disneyland twice in mid February. The virus was definitely on the horizon already and I was slightly hesitant, but I didn’t know it would be like this! But I had it in the back of my mind. Disneyland has been the vector for various outbreaks of measles over the years. So it’s always on my mind.

Gosh.... it was back when MoviePass was still working. I think it was Tag, though it might have been Annihilation, A Quiet Place, Isle Of Dogs, Star Wars:Salo, Greatest Showman, Black Panther, or anything else marginally interesting enough to see for free two years ago.

Last movie I paid for: Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Last movie screening seen theatrically: Onward
I do hope AT&T is smart and re-releases Tenet in theaters next year (or 2022) when it’s safe again.

Uncut Gems, scope letterboxed on a 1.85 screen with no masking, and house lights never going fully down. I have no desire to go back to a theater after that.

I was going to see "The Hunt" and then "Bloodshot" the following week, but my movie-going pal got squeamish and wanted to wait a week to see what the theaters were going to do. That "week" has been six months.

Okay, if you haven't been to the movies in well over a year or longer, you probably don't fit the criteria of this thread. I assume this thread is for more than just an extremely casual movie-goer and someone who actually saw something within 6 months before Covid shut theatres down.

Went to Knives Out in March. I think it was like right before COVID was starting to be seen as a threat.
Technically I’ve seen one other movie in theaters since COVID, but it wasn’t a typical experience. My girlfriend and I went to Wonder Woman in July. We were the only two there. The theater is back to closed as attendance wasn’t high enough to stay open. Also went to my first drive-in theater a couple weeks ago and saw Beetlejuice.
I can rattle off all the films I’ve seen in theaters this year.
January:
Little Women
Gretel and Hansel
February:
Birds of Prey
Sonic the Hedgehog
March:
Knives Out
July:
Wonder Woman
August:
Beetlejuice

I also remember, -back in the days long before digital projection, -seeing a film in an older "Second Run" house, where every other reel of the film was out-of-focus. I complained but I was the only one in the theater so they just didn't care.
