Rogue (2020): Megan Fox as a mercenary

This could be the funniest casting since Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist. The CG lions are amateur hour.

Megan Fox (Transformers franchise) tackles a thrilling new role as a battle-hardened mercenary in this explosive action saga. As team leader O’Hara, she leads a lively squad of soldiers on a daring mission: rescue hostages from their captors in remote Africa. But as the mission goes awry and the team is stranded, O’Hara’s squad must face a bloody, brutal encounter with a gang of rebels — and the horde of ravenous, enraged lions they encounter.

That shot at 1:17 with the guy hoisting his gun in some kind of victory grunt then getting jumped by a lion reminds me of that famous scene with Samuel Jackson in Deep Blue Sea, except that in that film it wasn't spoiled in the trailer. But then, this film doesn't have anyone equivalent to Sam Jackson.

She (used to be a He) was actually the main director of Strike Back. Probably would have been a better promo line to use.

This makes me nostalgic for TRANSFORMERS (2007).

I wonder if her toe thumbs affect her marksmanship.

Re: Rogue (2020): Megan Fox as a mercenary

Megan Fox strikes me as a curious choice for the star of this movie. I get the selling point of what's left of her name recognition in 2020. However, the major component of her brand is that she is sexy, but this movie has her cast in a role that is (based on the trailer) strictly an action/dramatic part. It seems like there would be some actress out there with more current cultural cache that would be looking to star in a movie.

That might be her motivation. For once she is not sexualized. How many of her movies can be described like that. Could be she's tired of it all.

She's aging out of her ability to get sex bomb roles, and her reputation for being difficult to work with hasn't helped her career. Maybe a switch to action movies would be good for her, though the general
decline in the popularity of that genre works against her.

I thought Jennifer Garner was going to do more action roles after she did Kingdom, but she went back to her usual boring rom-com movies for a long time, until she did Peppermint.

I'm not wondering why she took the role. I am questioning why they gave her the role. I think the meaning of my post was clear.

When She was a He, He directed Solomon Kane, ,which is an awesome film. Silent Revelations nearly ruined His career at the time.

Solomon Kane was a great little B-movie.

Megan Kane... has been terrible in everything.

I will not play any Supertramp for you or anyone who looks like you.

I will. Sofia Vergara looks nothing like a 20-something if you’re being honest.

There’s a continuum between “sex bomb” (Megan Fox at 20) and “decrepit”. I never said she was ugly. Her looks have more than noticeably declined though, and her face shows some signs of plastic surgery, which is always a bad sign.

Re: Rogue (2020): Megan Fox as a mercenary

I'm pretty sure this will be on Prime by October. I'll watch it then... but if Megan Fox is serious about not being seen as the hot girl playing serious (or bad ass) roles, she needs to ease up on the makeup and the perfectly placed strands of hair that come down the hat and make her look adorable. Also, when she's sprawled on the ground during that explosion, that's not normal (at least Rambo never did that -- in 5 films no less!) and it makes me feel funny in all the funny places.

Re: Rogue (2020): Megan Fox as a mercenary

Usually these Lionsgate direct to video action movies will end up on Prime a few months after the BD release. There are many of Bruce Willis' already there.

It does seem like a miscast, but she needs the work and got the job, so who are we to criticize her? LOL. I can't think of any B level actress off the top of my head who would even take this job. Maybe someone like Maggie Grace from Fear the Walking Dead or even Lauren Cohan from The Walking Dead would have been better choices. But, who are we kidding, this is going to be a cheap bad movie.

She's playing a badass mercenary fighting wild lions. Extremely unlikely.

“Alright Sly, for this next shot I want you on all fours. Arch your back a bit to accentuate your ass.”

Exactly. They weren’t going to land Jennifer Lawrence or Emily Blunt for this thing. Megan Fox has at least some name recognition.
Even an actress who might have been more “tough” for the role like Katherine Waterston or Michelle Rodriguez probably aren’t as well known as Fox.

You never know. A good tiger claw to the shirt of chest could reveal the goods...
