Blocks for 2 hours - awesome! Actually it’s the true story about the messy rights issues. Well now it gets the big screen treatment. I’m surprised Egerton is taking some actually pretty smart roles like this. I thought he was fascinating in Rocketman.

According to several reports, Taron Egerton has signed on to star in the movie, which is simply titled Tetris, as Henk Rogers. The man had an important part to play in the history of the Video Game. Late media mogul Robert Maxwell and his son Kevin were in control of a Soviet computer programing agency, as well as software companies, controlled the property, with Nintendo publishing video games that were created by Alexey Pajitnov. Up to that point, Pajitnov hadn't seen a dime for his work. Ultimately, after a lengthy battle, Rogers and Pajitnov secured the rights and co-founded The Tetris Company.

Sounds awesome.
When I opened thread I thought it was going to be a Lego type movie. Or like the Adam Sandler one.

Yeah, telling the story of the creation and the rights issues is a far better idea.
The only way I could see a Tetris-themed movie working is if the shapes started randomly showing up around the world, and people had to collect certain ones (Infinity Stone style) to solve some kind of ancient mystery or such.

The documentary done by The Gaming Historian is pretty interesting. I could see the story making for an interesting movie.

I'm in. I enjoy these "How did they do that?" type of movies. Ford vs. Ferrari or The Founder, for example, and the upcoming Air look interesting to me.

Yeah, before we watched the trailer I was sure it was an SNL spoof. But it does look awesome. And well timed with the Switch GB player, that had to have been intentional?

Just watched this and it was a lot of fun. Has the same story structure as Wolf of Wall St minus the sex. I do like a lot of the cost cutting measures utilized during scene and country transitions. The score and multi-language cover songs were also awesome.

This was so much fun. So nostalgic even if I never got into the Tetris craze. Sure I’ve played it, but that’s it. The movie, though factionalized, tells a really entertaining story about one of the most popular video games in the world. Taron has been killing it lately. From Black Bird to this and of course Kingsman and so f-in good in Rocketman. I really am enjoying his stuff.

very thrilling. who knew this game was so difficult to come by in terms of rights. i was going mad trying to figure what the hell was going on. but a blast, definitely.
